Standard Systemic Therapy With or Without Definitive Treatment in Treating Participants With Metastatic Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
This phase III trial studies how well standard systemic therapy with or without definitive treatment (prostate removal surgery or radiation therapy) works in treating participants with prostate cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Addition of prostate removal surgery or radiation therapy to standard systemic therapy for prostate cancer may lower the chance of the cancer growing or spreading.

Enhancing the Benefits of Blueberry Polyphenols With Protein
Recruiting
The purpose of this randomized crossover trial is determine whether acute consumption of blueberries with different proteins from plants (hemp or pea) or dairy (whey) impact the absorption of blueberry phytochemicals, which could impact the health benefits of blueberries. A secondary purpose is to understand the role that the gut microbiome may play, as well as the impact on urine polyphenol metabolites and potential implications for cardiometabolic health. Researchers will compare four arms: 1)... Read More

Lower-Dose Chemoradiation in Treating Patients With Early-Stage Anal Cancer, the DECREASE Study
Recruiting
This phase II trial studies how well lower-dose chemotherapy plus radiation (chemoradiation) therapy works in comparison to standard-dose chemoradiation in treating patients with early-stage anal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as mitomycin, fluorouracil, and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells... Read More

Crizotinib in Treating Patients With Stage IB-IIIA Non-small Cell Lung Cancer That Has Been Removed by Surgery and ALK Fusion Mutations (An ALCHEMIST Treatment Trial)
Recruiting
This randomized phase III trial studies how well crizotinib works in treating patients with stage IB-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer that has been removed by surgery and has a mutation in a protein called anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK). Mutations, or changes, in ALK can make it very active and important for tumor cell growth and progression. Crizotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the ALK protein from working. Crizotinib may be an effective treatment for patients with non-sma... Read More

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Exercise Training in Adolescents At-Risk for Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
The investigators are doing this study to learn more about how to prevent type 2 diabetes in teenage girls. The purpose of this study is to find out if taking part in a cognitive-behavioral therapy group, exercise training group, or a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy and exercise training groups, decreases stress, improves mood, increases physical activity and physical fitness, and decreases insulin resistance among teenagers at risk for diabetes.

Mental Health Intervention Research in At-Risk Adolescents
Recruiting
The goal of the proposed research is to support adolescent health through providing inclusive evidence-based programming that is in line with community needs. Specifically, the investigators aim to: 1) investigate the effects of mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) on adolescent mental health, 2) identify underlying mechanisms (e.g., engagement, stress physiology, emotion regulation) of MBI for adolescent health and wellbeing 3) identify facilitators and barriers of engagement in MBI for communi... SWOG S1827 (MAVERICK) Testing Whether the Use of Brain Scans Alone Instead of Brain Scans Plus Preventive Brain Radiation Affects Lifespan in Patients With Small Cell Lung Cancer
Recruiting
This phase III trial studies magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) surveillance and prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) to see how well they work compared to MRI surveillance alone in treating patients with small cell lung cancer. MRI scans are used to monitor the possible spread of the cancer with an MRI machine over time. PCI is radiation therapy that is delivered to the brain in hopes of preventing spread of cancer into the brain. The use of brain MRI alone may reduce side effects of receiving... Read More

Countermeasures to Circadian Misalignment
Recruiting
Insufficient sleep and circadian misalignment are independent risk factors for the development of obesity and diabetes, yet few strategies exist to counter metabolic impairments when these behaviors are unavoidable. This project will examine whether avoiding food intake during the biological night can mitigate the impact of circadian misalignment on metabolic homeostasis in adults during simulated night shift work. Findings from this study could identify a translatable strategy to minimize meta... Read More

Biomarker Cost-Benefit Analysis of EFNEP
Recruiting
The goal of this integrated project is to assess whether EFNEP is a cost-effective nutrition education intervention that generates sustained improvement in chronic disease biomarkers. This project will be unique in its use of objective biomarkers, instead of self-reported behaviors, to quantify the economic benefits generated by EFNEP through chronic disease prevention. A paired location untreated control group quasi-experimental design will be employed, with biomarkers (BMI, blood pressure, HbA... Read More
