There are currently 26 active clinical trials seeking participants for Gestational Diabetes research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Gestational Diabetes participants are California, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New York.
Immediate Postpartum Glucose Tolerance Testing
Recruiting
The objective of this study is to compare the accuracy of a 2hr glucose tolerance test administered during the postpartum hospitalization with the standard of care glucose tolerance testing (administered at 6 weeks postpartum). The primary hypothesis is that the glucose tolerance test administered in the postpartum period will be accurate and will improve compliance with postpartum testing for gestational diabetics.

Delivering HOPE (Helping Women Optimize Prenatal Equity)
Recruiting
The overarching research question is: "Does the provision of healthy food (Delivering HOPE) during pregnancy reduce the proportion of women who experience excessive gestational weight gain compared with enhanced standard of care (ESoC)?" To answer this question, the investigators will conduct a large multi-site randomized controlled trial with 1,440 women. Women will be randomized to either the Delivering HOPE arm or the ESoC arm, with approximately 720 participants per arm. Participants randomi... Read More

Growth Hormone Resistance of Beta-cells
Recruiting
The purpose of the research study is to better understand how beta-cells (cells in the pancreas that make insulin and help regulate blood sugar) respond to growth hormone in people with a personal history of gestational diabetes (high blood sugar in pregnancy) at the University of Missouri. The aim of the study is to advance understanding of how growth hormone affects beta-cells and risk factors for developing gestational diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

The purpose of this investigation is to examine the mechanisms mediating vascular dysfunction in women who have had gestational diabetes and how metformin may be a valuable treatment tool to improve microvascular function in these women before the onset of disease.

Early Investigation of Glucose Monitoring After Gestational Diabetes Pilot
Recruiting
One third of women with gestational diabetes (GDM), diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy, have abnormal glucose levels within 3 years after pregnancy, but follow up is low. Continuous glucose monitors (CGM), a small sensor inserted under the skin, may be able to screen women with GDM for diabetes risk. The investigators will ask postpartum women to use CGM at 6-8 weeks postpartum and answer surveys about quality of life after wearing the CGM. The investigators will collect data on blood glucose t... Read More

Pragmatic Randomized Clinical Trial to Limit Weight Gain in Pregnancy and Prevent Obesity
Recruiting
Healthy for Two, Healthy for You (H42/H4U) is an innovative evidence-based pregnancy/postpartum health coach intervention that is remotely-delivered (phone coaching using motivational interviewing, web-based platform, mobile phone behavioral tracking). The aim of this randomized controlled trial (RCT) is to embed H42/H4U into Johns Hopkins prenatal care clinics that serve a racially and economically diverse population, leveraging existing staff as trained health coaches to test its effectiveness... Relationship Between Aspirin Metabolism and Markers of Metabolic Dysfunction Among Pregnant Persons at Risk of Pre-eclampsia
Recruiting
This study's primary purpose is to determine the relationship between aspirin metabolism and markers of metabolic dysfunction among patients at risk for preeclampsia. Further, we will add an exploratory outcome to evaluate the neonatal body composition and anthropometric data to better understand neonatal impacts of maternal metabolic dysfunction.

GDM: Insulin with or Without Metformin?
Recruiting
This will be a randomized trial of patients with gestational diabetes who start hypoglycemic therapy with metformin but eventually require insulin. It will examine whether continuing metformin when adding insulin versus discontinuing metformin when insulin is added is beneficial. The investigators hypothesize that continuing metformin will reduce the needed insulin dosage and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes in these patients.

Exenatide Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Gestational Diabetes
Recruiting
This study is being done to study how exenatide, an FDA-approved drug that lowers blood sugar in non-pregnant patients with type II diabetes, works in pregnant women. To do this, the investigators will study the drug's pharmacokinetics (what the body does to the drug; specifically, how quickly your body breaks down and excretes exenatide) and pharmacodynamics (what the drug does to the body; specifically, how effectively exenatide helps the participants' pancreas secrete insulin and how well it...
