There are currently 23 active clinical trials seeking participants for Neuropathic Pain research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Neuropathic Pain participants are Florida, California, Texas and North Carolina.
Brain Connectivity Changes With Spinal Cord Stimulation and Treatment of Chronic Pain: A Resting State NIRS/EEG Study
Recruiting
This study aims to assess how use of spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain impacts brain structure and function. The investigators will use a non-invasive neuroimaging technique called resting state Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Electroencephalography (rs-fNIRS/EEG). The investigators will enroll Veterans who are currently receiving care at the Medical Center and who are either long term users of SCS for the treatment of their chronic pain or being evaluated for use of SCS t... Diabetic Neuropathy in Spinal Cord Stimulator Patients
Recruiting
The objective of this study is to assess the effect Spinal Cord Stimulators have toward improving vascular changes of diabetes mellitus in patients eligible for SCS placement based on their condition of painful diabetic neuropathy; we will evaluate improving their disability and quality of life, improving micro-circulatory changes induced by Diabetes Mellitus (DM), improving macro-circulatory changes induced by DM and improving arterial stiffness of the vessels of the lower extremity.

Novel Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Inhibitor for Neuropathic Pain in Patients With Spinal Cord Injury
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate safety and tolerability of multiple oral doses of EC5026 in male and female patients with neuropathic pain due to spinal cord injury. The main question it aims to answer is whether EC5026 is safe and well tolerated in SCI patients with neuropathic pain. In addition, this trial will also study the effects of EC5026 on pain. Researchers will compare EC5026 to placebo. Participants will be asked to: Take EC5026 or placebo in a masked fashion, once d... Read More

The Prevalence of Neuropathic Pain Pathophysiology Associated With Ankle Fracture
Recruiting
This application addresses the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program Investigator-Initiated Research Award FY21 W81XWH-22-CPMRP-IIRA area of Chronic Pain Management Research Program- The investigators will utilize subjects who have sustained ankle fractures and may develop chronic pain following bone union. No attempt will be made to affect the experimental outcome in the subjects. This study will adhere to a core set of standards for rigorous study design and reporting to maximize the reproduc... Noninvasive Modulation of Chronic Neuropathic Pain
Recruiting
This study will apply low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound to dorsal root ganglia in patients with chronic neuropathic pain. The target will be validated using magnetic resonance imaging. The stimulation will first be delivered using a range of stimulation parameters during psychophysical and physiological monitoring. A well-tolerated stimulation protocol will be selected for subsequent testing in a blinded randomized sham-controlled cross-over trial. The level of pain will be evaluated... Read More

Sensory Testing of Multiple Forms of Spinal Cord Stimulation for Pain
Recruiting
Doctors sometimes treat chronic pain with devices that send mild electrical currents into the spinal cord. This type of treatment is referred to as neurostimulation. A common form of neurostimulation therapy is spinal cord stimulation (SCS). In this study, researchers want to learn more about how SCS affects pain processing and relieves pain. The researchers will examine multiple forms of SCS in chronic pain patients who are receiving SCS from their own doctors as part of their standard of care.... Read More

Neuropathic Pain and Operant Conditioning of Cutaneous Reflexes After SCI
Recruiting
The purpose of the second part of the study is to examine the effect of reflex training in the leg to decrease neuropathic pain. For this, the researchers are recruiting 15 individuals with neuropathic pain due to spinal cord injury to participate in the reflex training procedure. The study involves approximately 50 visits with a total study duration of about 6.5 months (3 months for baseline and training phases followed by 1 month and 3 month follow-up visits).

The Use of Venlafaxine in Reducing Pain in Primary Total Knee Replacement
Recruiting
Patients experience pain after their knee replacement surgery - and some may continue to experience persistent pain long after their knee replacement surgery. Traditional pain management strategies reply on pain medication such as opioids for pain control. However, these drugs do not work well for pain associated with movement or the the nerve pain (tingling, electrical sensations) after surgery. In addition, opioids are associated with significant side effects such as nausea, vomiting, respirat... Read More

Brivaracetam to Reduce Neuropathic Pain in Chronic SCI: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial
Recruiting
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is associated with severe neuropathic pain that is often refractory to pharmacological intervention. Preliminary data suggest brivaracetam is a mechanism-based pharmacological intervention for neuropathic pain in SCI. Based on this and other reports in the literature, SCI-related neuropathic pain is hypothesized to occur largely because of upregulation of synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) within the substantia gelatinosa of the injured spinal cord. Furthermore, compared... Read More
