There are currently 26 active clinical trials seeking participants for Peripheral Artery Disease research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Autism participants are Florida, California, Texas and Pennsylvania.
Radiotracer-Based Perfusion Imaging of Patients With Peripheral Arterial Disease
Recruiting
The aim of this clinical study is to 1) establish a healthy database for nuclear perfusion imaging of the lower extremities and 2) assess the prognostic value of radiotracer-based perfusion imaging for predicting clinical outcomes in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) who are undergoing lower extremity revascularization procedures. We hypothesize that radiotracer imaging of the lower extremities will provide a sensitive non-invasive imaging tool for quantifying regional abnormalities... Read More

Far Red Light to Improve Functioning in PAD
Recruiting
The LIGHT PAD Trial is a Phase II multi-centered randomized clinical trial to collect preliminary data to test whether daily far red light treatment of the lower extremities in people with PAD improves six-minute walk distance, lower extremity perfusion, and ischemia-related damage in gastrocnemius muscle at four-month follow-up, compared to a sham control. Participants will complete 10 minutes of twice daily home treatment with either far red light or a sham light for four months.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Alert-Based Computerized Decision Support for Patients With Peripheral Artery Disease Not Prescribed Lipid-Lowering Therapy
Recruiting
This single-center, 400-patient, randomized controlled trial assesses the impact of a patient- and provider-facing EPIC Best Practice Advisory (BPA; alert-based computerized decision support tool) to increase guideline-directed utilization of statin and statin-alternative oral LDL-C lowering therapies in patients with PAD who are not being prescribed LDL-C-lowering therapy.

Red Light Treatment in Peripheral Artery Disease
Recruiting
Subjects with a known diagnosis of peripheral artery disease as measured by an abnormal ankle brachial index (<.9 or >1.1) will undergo a single 5 min exposure of 670 nm light, 1 cm above the gastrocnemius muscle. Blood flow will be measured by infusion of ultrasound contrast and subsequent acquisition of ultrasound images. 2 blood samples will be collected for measurement of nitric oxide metabolites.

Using Smartphone Sensor Technology to Characterize Ambulatory Patterns of Participants With Peripheral Artery Disease
Recruiting
The investigators plan to use smartphone and wearable sensor technology to characterize the activity patterns of participants with peripheral artery disease (PAD) (n=24) participating in a 12-week supervised exercise training (SET) program, and incorporate the resulting data into a web-based dashboard for participants and study staff.

Optimizing Gait Rehabilitation for Veterans With Non-traumatic Lower Limb Amputation
Recruiting
The population of older Veterans with non-traumatic lower limb amputation is growing. Following lower limb amputation, asymmetrical movements persist during walking and likely contribute to disabling sequelae including secondary pain conditions, poor gait efficiency, impaired physical function, and compromised skin integrity of the residual limb. This study seeks to address chronic gait asymmetry by evaluating the efficacy of two error-manipulation gait training programs to improve gait symmetry... Read More

Vascular Lab Resource (VLR) Biorepository
Recruiting
This is a study of biomarkers obtained from prospectively collected subject samples and their correlation with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. The purpose of this initiative is to develop an enduring tool to allow for collaborative research between clinicians at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and basic scientists at the Lerner Research Institute. This collaboration will allow resources to be available to clinical and basic researchers alike. This tool will enable research of vascular diseas... Read More

The Effects of ATLAS Therapy on Nitric Oxide Bioavailability in Patients With Intermittent Claudication
Recruiting
This study will focus on people with claudication from peripheral arterial disease. The investigators are researching whether a multicomponent therapeutic can increase the production of Nitric Oxide in the blood and whether that leads to an improvement in pain free walking distance and overall physical activity.

Unacylated Ghrelin to Improve Functioning in PAD
Recruiting
GIFT is a pilot, randomized, double-blinded clinical trial that will examine the effects of unacylated ghrelin on walking ability in people with peripheral artery disease (PAD) compared to placebo. Preliminary evidence suggests that unacylated ghrelin may improve blood flow to the extremities and promote improved skeletal muscle growth and energy use. A total of 30 participants with PAD will be randomized to one of two groups: unacylated ghrelin injections or placebo injections . Participants w... Read More
