The state of Georgia currently has 52 active clinical trials seeking participants for Diabetes research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Atlanta, Augusta, Decatur and Savannah.
Closed Loop Glucose Control in Patients With Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
This is a proof of concept safety study of an artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system designed for use in the intensive care unit setting. The type 1 and type 2 diabetic subjects in this study will have their glucose controlled to a range of 100-140 mg/dL by a novel artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system for a period of 24 hours. The subjects will consume three standardized meals during the 24 hour study period.

Dietary Oxysterols and β-Cell Function Among African Americans
Recruiting
African Americans (AAs) have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than the general population. AAs are also more likely to eat foods that contain cholesterol oxides/oxysterols. Dietary oxysterols can harm the cells that produce insulin and decrease insulin production. This pilot study seeks to determine if removing dietary oxysterols with a plant-based diet will improve insulin production and decrease the risk of type 2 diabetes among AAs.

Evaluation of Medtronic DUO Extended Set
Recruiting
This study is a single-center, non-randomized, prospective single arm study of adult subjects with type 1 diabetes utilizing 670G insulin pump therapy with Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). These subjects will be using 4 DUO Extended sets that will serve as an exploratory pilot study to assess the 7-day survival of the Duo Extended set.
