Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test a drug known as DFMO in people with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are:
* Does it reduce stress on the cells that make insulin?
* Does it preserve what is left of the body's insulin production? Participants will take either DFMO or a placebo (looks like DFMO but has no active ingredients) two times a day for about 6 months. Participants will have 6 in person visits and 1 phone visit over a period of 12 months. Visits wi... Read More

Technology-Supported Treatment of Sleep Apnea in Prediabetes
Recruiting
Despite the efficacy of intensive lifestyle interventions in prediabetes, the incidence of diabetes is rising, and thus there is a critical need for additional strategies to prevent diabetes and to reduce its cardiovascular complications in this high-risk population. Sleep apnea is a highly common condition in prediabetes, but it has been mostly ignored and undertreated in current practice. The proposed study will be the first to assess whether adding CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) trea... Read More

A Study Called FINE-REAL to Learn More About the Use of the Drug Finerenone in a Routine Medical Care Setting
Recruiting
This is an observational study in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) who will be receiving finerenone.
Kidneys filter extra water and waste out of the blood and make urine. CKD is a long-term, progressive, decrease in the kidneys' ability to filter the blood properly. In people with T2D, the body does not make enough of a hormone called insulin, or does not use insulin well enough, resulting in high blood sugar levels that can cause damage to the kidneys. As a re... Read More

Role of Adiposomes in Endothelial Dysfunction
Recruiting
The development of type II diabetes (T2D) is strongly associated with obesity and both are well-established risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Knowing that vascular dysfunction is an early event in the development of cardiovascular disease in obese diabetic (OB-T2D) patients, The investigators set their long-term goal to define molecular mechanisms of vascular dysfunction and corrective strategies that target these mechanisms such as physical activity and weight loss. The investigators rec... Read More

A Study to Learn How Well the Study Treatment Finerenone Works and How Safe it is in People With Long-term Decrease in the Kidneys' Ability to Work Properly (Chronic Kidney Disease) Together With Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
Researchers are looking for a better way to treat people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a progressive decrease in the kidneys' ability to work properly, and type 1 diabetes.
In people with type 1 diabetes, the body does not make enough of a hormone called insulin, resulting in high blood sugar levels that can cause damage to the kidneys. CKD often occurs together with or as a consequence of type 1 diabetes.
The study treatment finerenone works by blocking certain proteins, called mineraloc... Read More
