The state of Illinois currently has 467 active clinical trials seeking participants for Cancer research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Chicago, Peoria, Springfield and Urbana.
Regional Radiotherapy in Biomarker Low-Risk Node Positive and T3N0 Breast Cancer
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to compare the effects on low risk breast cancer receiving usual care that includes regional radiation therapy, with receiving no regional radiation therapy. Researchers want to see if not giving this type of radiation treatment works as well at preventing breast cancer from coming back.

Leveraging Methylated DNA Markers (MDMs) in the Detection of Endometrial Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, and Cervical Cancer
Recruiting
The overarching objective of this project is to develop a pan-gynecologic cancer detection test using gynecologic (unique endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancer) cancer-specific methylated DNA markers and high-risk human papilloma virus (HR-HPV) detected in vaginal fluid and/or plasma. This proposal defines Phase II MDM-based cancer detection studies in endometrial cancer (EC) and endometrial hyperplasia with atypia (AEH) in vaginal fluid and 2) ovarian cancer (OC) in plasma and vaginal flui... Study to Assess the Feasibility of Stopping Prostate Cancer Treatment Early in Elderly Patients
Recruiting
This study seeks to identify if it is feasible to stop Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone (LHRH) Agonist Therapy in elderly men with prostate cancer. We hypothesize that elderly prostate cancer patients on long term androgen ablation with LHRH agonists will be permanently castrated and do not require ongoing LHRH agonist therapy. Participants will be monitored by testosterone testing throughout study.

Geriatric Assessment and Technology Evaluation in Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
By doing this study, doctors hope to learn more about factors that contribute to frailty (a condition where older adults feel weak, get tired easily, and struggle more with everyday activities) and serious side effects among men over the age of 65 who will receive androgen deprivation therapy (also called "hormone therapy") for prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of their body. Participation in this research will last about 5 years. For the first year, participants will have 5 study v... Read More

Novel Outreach Methods to Increase Enrollment to Early Phase Clinical Trials
Recruiting
This trial will study different outreach methods to assess impact on enrollment of underrepresented minorities (specifically African Americans) to early phase cancer clinical treatment trials. Both patients and providers (those seeing enrolled patients) will be enrolled and receive the study interventions or no intervention (control arm).

Recruiting
This phase II trial studies how well ceralasertib, am Ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related (ATR) kinase inhibitor, works alone or in combination with olaparib or durvalumab in treating participants with renal cell carcinoma (RCC), urothelial carcinoma, all pancreatic cancers, endometrial cancer, and other solid tumors excluding clear cell ovarian cancer that have spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes or other parts of the body. ATR kinase inhibitor AZD6738 and olaparib or durvalumab may stop... Read More

Adjuvant Treatment With Cisplatin-based Chemotherapy Plus Concomitant Atezolizumab in Patients With Stage I (Tumors ≥ 4cm), IIA, IIB, and Select Stage III [Any T1-3 N1-2 and T4N0-2] Resected Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and the Clearance of Circulating Tumor DNA (ctDNA)
Recruiting
The vast majority of patients with stage I (tumors ≥ 4cm), IIA, IIB (and select stage III) NSCLC are managed with upfront surgery, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. However, relapse rates remain high and are primarily due to distant, metastatic disease. Previous meta-analysis evaluating the use of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy demonstrate a similar impact on improved disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). The role of checkpoint inhibitors has been proven to... Read More

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy, Excision And Observation vs Chemoradiotherapy For Rectal Cancer
Recruiting
This study is being done to answer the following questions: Is the chance of rectal cancer responding the same if chemotherapy alone is given before limited surgery compared to chemotherapy and radiation therapy given together before limited surgery? If radiation therapy is not given, is quality of life better?
