PainChek® US Validation Nursing Home Study
Recruiting
Pain is common amongst people living with dementia. However, as people's dementia worsens their ability to self-report pain diminishes because of limitations in their cognition and communication abilities. As a result pain in people with moderate to severe dementia often goes under-recognised and undertreated.
PainChek® is a technology-enabled, observational pain assessment tool, in the form of a mobile application designed specifically to assist healthcare professionals and professional caregi... Read More

Ferritin and Iron Burden in SAH sIRB
Recruiting
Ruptured cerebral aneurysms lead to subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH),that has a high morbidity and mortality rate, the severity of which is predicted by the "Hunt-Hess grade" (HHG).
SAH leads to iron (Fe) and hemoglobin (Hb) accumulation in the brain, which is toxic for neurons. Ferritin (iron reported in the brian) and iron overload leads to brain atrophy, specifically in the mesial temporal lobe (hippocampus, impairing patients' cognition. It is estimated that 50% of survivors have cognitive def... Read More

Implementation of MIND at Home Into Primary Care for People Living With Dementia
Recruiting
The number of people living with dementia (PLWD) is growing. PLWD are often cared for at home by an informal caregiver, but this care is often not sufficient, resulting in costly hospitalizations and other unnecessary and avoidable use of health services. In addition, many PLWD are transferred to costly long-term care facilities despite their preference to live at home. One way to improve care for PLWD is to work with their primary care doctors to provide better quality of care at lower costs fo... Read More

Determinants of Incident Stroke Cognitive Outcomes and Vascular Effects on RecoverY

The overall goal of the DISCOVERY study is to better understand what factors contribute to changes in cognitive (i.e., thinking and memory) abilities in patients who experienced a stroke. The purpose of the study is to help doctors identify patients at risk for dementia (decline in memory, thinking and other mental abilities that significantly affects daily functioning) after their stroke so that future treatments may be developed to improve outcomes in stroke patients. For this study, a "stroke... Read More
