Cancer Paid Clinical Trials in Louisiana

Cancer is a condition where cells in a specific part of body grow and reproduce uncontrollably. The purpose of this study is to assess adverse events and change in disease activity when ABBV-400 is given to adult participants to treat advanced solid tumors. ABBV-400 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. Study doctors put the participants in groups called treatment arms. The Recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) will be explored. Each treatment arm receives a different dose of ABBV-400. This study will include a dose escalation phase to determine the best dose of ABBV-400, followed by a dose expansion phase to confirm the dose and combination with bevacizumab. Approximately 500 adult participants with NSCLC, gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma/gastroesophagel junction adenocarcinoma (GEA) and colorectal cancer (CRC) or advanced solid tumors, will be enrolled in the study in approximately 7-10 sites in the Dose Escalation phase and 85-95 sites in the Dose Expansion phase worldwide. Dose escalation arms, participants will receive intravenous (IV) escalating doses of ABBV-400 monotherapy. Dose expansion arms, participants in the following advanced solid tumor indications: non-squamous NSCLC with wildtype EGFR-expression (wtEGFR NSCLC) [Part 2i] or mutated EGFR-expression (mutEGFR NSCLC) [Part 2ii], squamous NSCLC [Part 2iii], GEA [Part 3] will receive intravenous (IV) ABBV-400 monotherapy, participants CRC will receive IV ABBV-400 monotherapy in expansion [Part 4], participants MET amplification will receive IV ABBV-400 monotherapy in expansion [Part 5], participants MET mutation will receive IV ABBV-400 monotherapy in expansion [Part 6], participants CRC safety lead in will receive escalating doses of IV ABBV-400 in combination with IV bevacizumab [Part 7a], and participants CRC dose optimization in will the low or high dose of IV ABBV-400 determined in Part 7a in combination with IV bevacizumab or oral trifluridine/tipiracil (TAS-102) tablets [Part 7b]. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at an approved institution (hospital or clinic). This phase 3 trial compares the addition of nivolumab to chemotherapy (carboplatin and paclitaxel) versus usual treatment (chemotherapy alone) for the treatment of anal cancer that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic). Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy drugs, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving nivolumab together with carboplatin and paclitaxel may help doctors find out if the treatment is better or the same as the usual approach. Read Less

This phase II trial studies how well cabozantinib works in combination with nivolumab and ipilimumab in treating patients with rare genitourinary (GU) tumors that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body. Cabozantinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab and ipilimumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving cabozantinib, nivolumab, and ipilimumab may work better in treating patients with genitourinary tumors that have no treatment options compared to giving cabozantinib, nivolumab, or ipilimumab alone. This phase III trial compares the addition of an immunotherapy drug (durvalumab) to usual chemotherapy versus usual chemotherapy alone in treating patients with MammaPrint Ultrahigh (MP2) stage II-III hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative breast cancer. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as durvalumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy drugs, such as paclitaxel, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. There is some evidence from previous clinical trials that people who have a MammaPrint Ultrahigh Risk result may be more likely to respond to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Adding durvalumab to usual chemotherapy may be able to prevent the cancer from returning for patients with MP2 stage II-III hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative breast cancer. Read Less

This is a Phase III, two-arm, randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study in participants with HER2-positive primary breast cancer who have received preoperative chemotherapy and HER2-directed therapy, including trastuzumab followed by surgery, with a finding of residual invasive disease in the breast and/or axillary lymph nodes. Through this award, Michael Hoerger, PhD, MSCR, a psychologist at the Tulane Cancer Center in Louisiana, will lead a study called EMPOWER 3 designed to test an educational intervention to help patients understand palliative care, use it, and feel better emotionally and physically. Participants will be adults with serious cancer diagnoses. Participants will be randomized into two groups. Patients in the control group will get enhanced usual care, meaning standard cancer care and several additional healthcare-related brochures. Patients in the intervention group will get enhanced usual care plus an educational video developed by the investigators and other materials designed to increase understanding and use of palliative care. Family members of patients in the intervention group may also attend if desired. The investigators will track participants' understanding of palliative care, attitudes toward palliative care, symptoms over 6 months of follow-up, and palliative care utilization. Read Less

This phase II trial compares the effect of atezolizumab in combination with usual treatment with cabozantinib to cabozantinib alone in patients with papillary renal cell carcinoma that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic). Papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) is a type of kidney cancer that forms in the lining of the tiny tubes in the kidney that return filtered substances that the body needs back to the blood and remove extra fluid and waste as urine. Most papillary tumors look like long, thin finger-like growths under a microscope. It is also called papillary kidney cancer or PRCC. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may help body's immune system attack the cancer and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Cabozantinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply and may also prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. By these actions it may help slow or stop the spread of cancer cells. Combination therapy with atezolizumab and cabozantinib may shrink the cancer and allow a longer survival time in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects on low risk breast cancer receiving usual care that includes regional radiation therapy, with receiving no regional radiation therapy. RBS2418 (investigational product) is a specific immune modulator, working through ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase I (ENPP1), designed to lead to anti-tumor immunity by increasing endogenous 2'-3'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate (cGAMP) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP levels) and reducing adenosine production in the tumors. The purpose of this study is to compare overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Version 1.1 (RECIST 1.1) as assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR). Hypothesis (H1): Concurrent chemoradiation therapy with pembrolizumab followed by pembrolizumab plus olaparib is superior to concurrent chemoradiation therapy alone with respect to PFS per RECIST 1.1 by BICR. Hypothesis (H2): Concurrent chemoradiation therapy with pembrolizumab followed by pembrolizumab is superior to concurrent chemoradiation therapy alone with respect to PFS per RECIST 1.1 by BICR.
