Outpatient Treatment With Anti-Coronavirus Immunoglobulin
Recruiting
The primary objective of the Outpatient Treatment with Anti-Coronavirus Immunoglobulin (OTAC) (INSIGHT 012) trial is to compare the safety and efficacy of a single infusion of anti-COVID-19 hyperimmune intravenous immunoglobulin (hIVIG) versus placebo among adults with recently diagnosed severe acute respiratory syndrome - coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) infection who do not require hospitalization. The primary endpoint of this double-blind randomized trial is a five-category ordinal outcome that asse... Read More

Strategies and Treatments for Respiratory Infections & Viral Emergencies (STRIVE): Shionogi Protease Inhibitor (Ensitrelvir)
Recruiting
Treatments are needed to improve outcomes among patients hospitalized for COVID-19, including direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agents to mitigate the pathology driven by ongoing viral replication. This trial will evaluate S-217622 (ensitrelvir), an anti-SARS-CoV2 3C-like protease inhibitor (PI) developed by Shionogi &; Co. Ltd.
The study design is a randomized, placebo-controlled, multi-center international clinical trial that will evaluate the clinical efficacy of ensitrelvir when given in additi... Read More

Viral Infections in Healthy and Immunocompromised Hosts
Recruiting
Background:
- Viral infections are an important cause of illness and death in hospitalized patients as well as outpatients. New strains of viruses may appear and infect both healthy people and those with weak immune systems. A better understanding of these new virus strains (such as SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19) may help to control and prevent these infections. In particular, some viral infections that are less problematic in healthy persons can be life threatening in persons with... Read More

Send-In Sample Collection for Comprehensive Analyses of Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses During Acute COVID-19 and Convalescence
Recruiting
Background:
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The global outbreak of COVID-19 is a major public health problem. COVID-19 causes a wide range of symptoms. These symptoms range from mild breathing problems to life-threatening problems or death. Some people have no symptoms. This study aims to learn how acute and late immune responses to COVID-19 lead to different outcomes. The immune system is the body s defense against germs,... Read More

Modifying Adiposity Through Behavioral Strategies to Improve COVID-19 Rehabilitation
Recruiting
The research in this VA Merit will examine the effects of obesity and Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) on physical functioning, health-related quality of life, and adipose tissue inflammatory and cellular senescence profiles in older Veterans. Further, it will evaluate whether a weight loss intervention, including dietary modification and exercise, in obese Veterans with and without PCC will reduce systemic and adipose tissue inflammation and senescence and promote PCC recovery.

Natural History Study of COVID-19 Using Digital Wearables
Recruiting
Background:
People with COVID-19 have varying degrees of illness. It can range from no or mild symptoms to critical illness and death. Some people with COVID-19 have long-term effects regardless of the severity of their disease initially. Researchers want to learn more to see if they can better predict where a person may fall on the illness spectrum.
Objective:
To follow and record symptoms of COVID-19 to see how it progresses in people and why some people stay sick longer than others.

Vaccine Responses to SARS-CoV-2 and Other Emerging Infectious Diseases
Recruiting
Background:
Vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, have been highly effective against preventing severe disease. But the protective effects of these vaccines appear to wane over time. Researchers want to learn why.
Objective:
To learn more about how the immune system responds to vaccines against infections like SARS-CoV-2.
Eligibility:
Healthy adults ages 18 or older who are scheduled to receive either a new vaccine or a booster shot against SARS-COV-2 or another emerg... Read More

Hyperspectral Analysis of Sweat Metabolite Biometrics for Real-Time Detection of COVID-19
Recruiting
Background:
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the health systems worldwide. Many tools have been developed in response to the pandemic, but there is no current way to quickly screen multiple people for the disease. Research has shown that people with COVID-19 have higher levels of some proteins involved in the immune response and inflammation. These proteins can be detected in sweat using a special camera. Researchers want to see if analysis of sweat from fingerprints could be used to detect... Read More

Long COVID-19 [11C]CPPC Study
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to evaluate the safety of using the [5-cyano-N-(4-(4-[11C]Methylpiperazin-1-yl)-2-(Piperidin-1-yl)Phenyl)Furan-2-carboxamide] ([11C]CPPC) radiotracer in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of people with history of COVID-19 infection, with and without symptoms. The investigators are also interested to see whether use of this radiotracer reveals imaging differences between patients with history of COVID-19 infection and still exhibiting symptoms or healthy patient... Recruiting
The purpose of this clinical trial is to learn about the safety, pharmacokinetics (pharmacokinetics helps us understand how the drug is changed and eliminated from your body after you take it), and efficacy (how well a study treatment works in the study) of the study medicine (called nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) for potential treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The study medicine will be given to patients under 18 years of age with COVID-19 that are not hospitalized but are at risk for... Read More

The Impact of COVID-19 on Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes
Recruiting
The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection (COVID-19) has caused a worldwide pandemic. There is still much that is unknown regarding the virus, especially its effects on pregnancy, the fetus, and the neonate. This study seeks to evaluate adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes related to COVID-19 infection.
The FDA has authorized emergency use authorization for the SARS-CoV-2 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. Pregnant women were excluded from the Phase III cl... Read More
