Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) Research Study
Recruiting
If you are identified as eligible for investigational genetic testing, you will be sent a saliva collection kit to your home. Once you have completed and returned your kit to Sano Genetics, your sample will be tested for a specific genetic pathway called BAG3.
Investigational genetic testing can help you better understand your body and its needs, as well as how DCM may be passed down in your family. Those who are identified as having a variant in the BAG3 gene will be referred to an upcoming clinical trial.

Gastroparesis Registry 4
Recruiting
The Gastroparesis Registry 4 (GpR4) is an observational study of patients with symptoms of gastroparesis (Gp) and functional dyspepsia (FD) with either delayed or normal gastric emptying. To better understand these disorders, this registry will capture demographic, clinical, physiological, questionnaire, and patient outcome data to characterize the patients and their clinical course. Participants will complete several questionnaires, complete a nutrient drink test and have a gastric emptying stu... Read More

Carbohydrate Beta Cell Function and Glucose Control in Children With Diabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effects of a ketogenic diet on the progression and control of type 1 diabetes in children with newly diagnosed diabetes. The main questions to answer are:
* Does a ketogenic diet prolong the honeymoon period of type 1 diabetes?
* Does a ketogenic diet improve diabetes control?
* Is a ketogenic diet safe, acceptable and sustainable in children with newly diagnosed diabetes?
* What are the microbiome, inflammatory and metabolic changes linking diet t... Read More

Best Practice Advisories to Reduce Inequities in Technology Use for People With Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
The overall goal of the study is to create a standardized, stakeholder-informed system within EMRs, that will enable an equitable and regular prescription and documentation of advanced diabetes technologies. This will reduce racial disparities and generate an understanding of the reasons behind prescription decisions.
The study will highlight the development and implementation an EMR-based Best Practice Advisory (BPA).
The study will answer whether the EMR-based BPA can effectively reduce disp... Read More

Type 1 Diabetes Extension Study
Recruiting
This is a multi-center, prospective, non-interventional study that focuses on the long- term effects following participation in selected ITN new-onset Type1 Diabetes Mellitus studies with immunomodulatory agents (T1DM, T1D).
This observational study will:
* follow participants to determine how long they continue to produce insulin, and
* will also assess how changes in the immune system over time relate to the ability to produce insulin.
This information could help design better therapies for... Read More

Refinement and Testing of Recruitment Methodology for Behavioral Medication Adherence Interventions Using Behavioral Science-based Approaches
Recruiting
The overarching goal of the proposed research is to prepare the clinical pharmacist intervention for sustainable implementation and dissemination. Because the effectiveness of the intervention has already been demonstrated in a NIH Stage Model IV trial, the investigators propose an Effectiveness-Implementation Type 3 Hybrid design, in which the primary focus is on testing different implementation methods, while secondarily observing clinical effects. The investigators' overarching hypothesis is... Read More

Hybrid Closed Loop Effectiveness Trial in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
Minoritized individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) have approximately 2% higher average A1c levels and twice the rate of hospitalizations, complications, and mortality as their white counterparts. However, the efficacy trials establishing the benefits of hybrid closed loop (HCL) pump therapy in T1D have been in more socially advantaged and predominantly non-Hispanic white patients. Use of this technology by individuals with T1D from underserved communities remains very low.
The investigators pl... Read More

Assessment of Dapagliflozin on Vascular Health in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) have changes in blood vessel health that can lead to a higher chance of developing heart attacks or strokes. New medications for T2DM including dapagliflozin, which is a Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2) inhibitor, may help protect the heart and blood vessels.
The overarching objective of this mechanistic study is to learn how a Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 (SGT2) inhibitor, dapagliflozin, impacts vascular health in patients with Ty... Read More

Type 1 Diabetes Management Using a Very Low Carbohydrate Versus Standard Diet
Recruiting
Despite major technological advances, management of type one diabetes mellitus (T1D) remains suboptimal, putting millions of people at risk for immediate and long-term complications. After meals, a mismatch between carbohydrate absorption rate and insulin action typically leads to alternating periods of hyper- and hypoglycemia. A conceptually promising approach to control both problems is dietary carbohydrate restriction to reduce postprandial blood glucose changes and insulin needs. In a prior... Read More

Effects of Ketosis on Brain Function in Patients With T1DM
Recruiting
The scientific goal of this study is to examine the effects of a ketogenic diet on hypoglycemia tolerance and brain function in people with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) and to clarify the mechanistic role of ketones in this process. Glycemic management of T1D is typified by alternating periods of hyper- and hypo-glycemia. Because brain metabolism under usual conditions depends on glucose, acute hypoglycemia leads to immediate complications including impaired cognitive function and a counter-re... Read More
