The state of Massachusetts currently has 151 active clinical trials seeking participants for Breast Cancer research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Burlington.
Ultrahypofractionation and Normal Tissue Toxicity
Recruiting
This research is being done to see if proton beam radiation therapy (PBT) results in fewer changes to a participant's heart measured with MRI-imaging than conventional or "photon" radiation therapy (XRT) for participants with non-metastatic left sided breast cancer. The names of the two study groups in this research study are: * Proton Radiation Therapy (PBT) * Conventional or "Photon" Radiation Therapy (XRT)

Losartan in Prevention of Radiation-Induced Heart Failure
Recruiting
This study is being done to see if losartan affects the chances of developing radiation-induced heart failure in patients who are receiving radiation therapy as part of standard of care treatment for breast cancer. The interventions involved in this study are: * Losartan * Radiation Therapy (standard of care)

The Differential Impact of Proton Beam Irradiation Versus Conventional Radiation on Organs-at-risk in Stage II-III Breast Cancer Patients
Recruiting
The objective of the study is to serve as a correlative study for patients enrolled on the RadCOMP trial (NCT02603341), a randomized phase III study of stage II and III breast cancer patients treated with either conventional photon radiation or proton beam radiation

Adapting the Tumor Board Model for Mental Illness and Cancer
Recruiting
This study examines the feasibility and acceptability of a virtual tumor board for cancer and mental illness for patients with serious mental illness and a new cancer diagnosis. The study also examines the impact on patient care, psychiatric symptoms, and clinician self-efficacy in managing this population.

Project 1: Self-Triage by 2D Full-field Digital Mammography or Synthetic Images
Recruiting
One method of breast cancer screening involves radiologists reading digital tomosynthesis (DBT) images. DBT consists of a 3D stack of x-ray "slices" through the breast. The exam is accompanied by a 2D image like a standard mammogram, a single x-ray of the breast. In a screening setting, most cases are normal. Sometimes it is obvious that a case is normal from a quick look at the 2D image. It would speed up the process of screening if readers could dismiss a clearly normal case on the basis of th...
