The state of Massachusetts currently has 42 active clinical trials seeking participants for Hypertension research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Burlington.
MR Antagonist and LSD1
Recruiting
Lysine specific demethylase-1 (LSD1) is an epigenetic regulator of gene transcription involved in the pathophysiology of elevated blood pressure and likely renal damage in Blacks. This project investigates whether a genetically driven anti-hypertensive approach proves superior in controlling blood pressure and mitigating renal injury in Blacks who carry the risk allele for LSD1 (rs587168). The findings of these investigations may lead to a new approach in treating a subset (~30%) of the essentia... Read More

Latanoprost Eluting Contact Lens for Treating Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension
Recruiting
In this research study, we will assess the safety, tolerability, comfort, and feasibility of lowering intraocular pressure using a novel Contact Lens Drug Delivery System with latanoprost. Latanoprost is a well-studied medication and has been used to treat glaucoma for decades. Currently, latanoprost is FDA-approved to be administered to patients as eye drops, but using eye drops has challenges (having to remember to take the drop, getting the drop in the eye). This clinical trial is being done... Read More

Comparison of Vasodilator Response of Inhaled Epoprostenol and Inhaled Nitric Oxide
Recruiting
The overarching goal of this study is to examine the acute vasoreactive response to both inhaled nitric oxide and inhaled epoprostenol across both traditionally and non-traditionally interrogated phenotypes in PH, and to further characterize the relationship of vasoreactivity to disease severity and PH phenotype.

Cardiovascular Manifestations of MR Activation in Primary Aldosteronism: Pilot Clinical Study
Recruiting
This research study aims to learn more about the impact the hormone aldosterone on the heart. Primary aldosteronism is a condition where the body's adrenal glands make too much of the hormone aldosterone, which can cause high blood pressure and increase the risk of heart and kidney disease. Treatment with medications that block aldosterone can reduce that risk. This study is trying to learn whether treatment with a medication that blocks aldosterone can improve heart function in people who make... Read More

Vardenafil Inhaled for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension PRN Phase 2B Study

Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Network (PPHNet) Informatics Registry
Recruiting
Patients are being asked to be in this research study because medical researchers hope that by gathering information about a large number of children with pulmonary hypertension over time, their understanding of the disease process will increase and lead to better treatment. Investigators believe that pulmonary hypertension in children is different than pulmonary hypertension in adults and this study will help us understand those differences.
