The state of Massachusetts currently has 38 active clinical trials seeking participants for Depression research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Burlington.
Deep Brain Stimulation of Treatment-Resistant Bipolar Depression
Recruiting
This study is only enrolling at Baylor College of Medicine. The other research locations listed serve to support data analysis only. This research study is to investigate the use of technology called Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) to potentially improve Treatment-Resistant Bipolar Depression (TRBD) symptoms in patients with severe cases. DBS involves the surgical implantation of leads and electrodes into specific areas of the brain, which are thought to influence the disease. A pack implanted in... Read More

Improving Preschool Outcomes by Addressing Maternal Depression in Head Start
Recruiting
Within a research network of Head Start centers in Massachusetts, an efficacy trial of a stepped-care intervention (SCI) to address maternal depression, using intervention components that both prevent depression and help those in major depressive episode (MDE) engage with care, will be conducted. Both the prevention and engagement components of the model have strong, supportive randomized trial evidence for both their efficacy and safety; but they have yet to be synthesized and tested within a c... Specialized Pro-resolving Lipid Mediators and Treatment Resistant Depression
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the impact of omega-3 fatty acids on the production of anti-inflammatory effects and clinical improvement in people with depression who have not responded well to standard antidepressant treatment. The main questions it seeks to answer are: 1. Do omega-3 fatty acids added to ineffective antidepressant treatment increase production of compounds that reduce inflammation? 2. Is the increase in these anti-inflammatory compounds associated with a stron... Read More
