The need for exploration of more definitive and cost effective non-arthroplasty treatments of osteoarthritis (OA) has been demonstrated by the orthopedic and health economic research. Embolotherapy of neovessels associated with OA joints has been shown to be promising in patients with knee OA. There is a need for level one evidence drawn from randomized clinical trials to prove the safety, feasibility and efficacy of knee embolotherapy compared to standard of care. This randomized pilot study will assign 10 patients with mild-moderate OA to undergo geniculate artery embolization plus standard of care (defined in this study as: physical therapy and oral anti-inflammatory medications, with a maximum of 1 joint injection at the time of enrollment) and 10 patients to receive only medical standard of care (also having had a maximum of 1 joint injection prior to enrollment). The goal of this pilot study is to obtain preliminary estimates of safety and efficacy of embolotherapy to provide sustained symptom control and modify disease progression in patients with mild to moderate knee OA. This study is open to adults with different types of advanced cancer (solid tumors) that are accessible for injection and/or biopsy. This is a study for people with a life expectancy of at least 3 months after starting study treatment. The purpose of this study is to find the highest dose of a medicine called BI 1831169 that people with advanced cancer can tolerate when taken with or without a type of antibody called a checkpoint inhibitor (anti-PD-1 antibody). Another purpose is to check whether the study treatment can fight cancer. In this study, BI 1831169 is given to people for the first time. This study has 2 parts. In Part 1, participants get BI 1831169 alone for up to 3 months. In Part 2, participants get BI 1831169 in combination with a checkpoint inhibitor. Participants who take the combination treatment get BI 1831169 for up to 3 months and a checkpoint inhibitor for up to 1 year. BI 1831169 is given as an injection into the tumor, or as an infusion into the vein, or both (injection and infusion). Checkpoint inhibitors are given as an infusion into a vein. Participants get the medicines about every 3 weeks. This is called a treatment cycle. Participants visit the site study site regularly. The number of study visits vary based on the study phase and treatment response. Some visits include an overnight stay. The doctors regularly check the participants' health and monitor the tumors. The doctors also take note of any health problems that could have been caused by the study treatment. Read Less

The ALL ALS Clinical Research Consortium is establishing research to collect a wide range of samples, clinical information and measurements from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) symptomatic, ALS gene carriers and control cohorts. This consortium is begin funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH/NINDS) and managed by two clinical coordinating centers (CCC) at Barrow Neurological Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital. The clinical sites are distributed across the country, and led by a group of collaborative principal investigators. Once data and samples are collected and harmonized, it will be made available to research community for future research into ALS and related neurological diseases. PREVENT protocol is specific for asymptomatic participants who are genetically at risk for ALS. The participants will be followed for up to 36 months (3 years), and will include 4 in-person on-site visits once a year and 6 off-site(remote) visits once in 4 months. The study includes collection of medical history, clinical outcomes, and blood samples once in 4 months. Additionally, the participants will complete patient reported outcomes and speech recordings once in 4 months. Participants may also provide optional Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) samples.The participants may also opt into a sub-study if they are interested in genetic testing for ALS causative genes. The sub-study will involve a minimum of 3 visits over a course of 2-3 months. The overall objective of this study is to examine the physiological responses that occur during a hot flush in postmenopausal women. The following specific aims will be executed to reach the overall objective of this study. Aim 1: To determine if hot flushes can be reliably induced with a temperature-controlled, water- circulating (TCWC) heating pad. Based on previous research, the investigators hypothesize that hot flushes will be inducible with the TCWC in symptomatic women, but not in asymptomatic women. Aim 2: To determine if heat-induced hot flushes in symptomatic women will cause reproducible cardiovascular and respiratory responses. The investigators hypothesize that heat-induced hot flushes produce similar and reproducible cardiovascular and respiratory responses to spontaneous hot flushes. Aim 3: To determine if body fat percentage influences hot flush severity or frequency during spontaneous or induced hot flushes. This study is open to adults aged 18 and over who have just had a heart attack. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 765845 helps people who have had a heart attack. The investigators also want to test how well different doses of BI 765845 work and how they are tolerated by people who have had a heart attack. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either BI 765845 or placebo. Placebo treatments look like BI 765845 treatments but do not contain any medicine. Participants are about 3 times as likely to receive BI 765845 than placebo. Participants are in the study for 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site 7 times and get 3 phone calls from the site staff. At the visits, the doctors use clinical tests to check the health of the heart. The results are compared between the BI 765845 and placebo groups to see whether the treatment works. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.
