Registry for Stage 2 Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
Stage 2 Type 1 Diabates (T1D) is an early stage of T1D characterized by dysglycemia but not yet leading to clinical symptoms. Progression of the disease to Stage 3 (clinical T1D), leads to overt hyperglycemia requiring eventually exogenous insulin. TZIELD® (teplizumab-mzwv) has been approved to delay onset of stage 3 T1D, by the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adults and children aged 8 years and older with Stage 2 T1D. The purpose of this study is to collect general... Read More

Efficacy and Safety of a Ketogenic Diet in Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
Despite strong evidence that tight control of blood sugar reduces the risk of diabetes complications, most people with type 1 diabetes do not achieve recommended blood sugar targets. This randomized controlled trial will test whether a very-low- carbohydrate ketogenic diet can effectively and safely improve blood sugar control in adults with type 1 diabetes.

Role of KATP Channel Loss in Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
Insulin is a hormone that is made by β-cells in the pancreas and when released into the bloodstream helps control blood sugar levels. Insulin release is regulated by electrical activity in the β-cell which is generated by the ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel. While reduced KATP activity is associated with increased insulin secretion, animals lacking KATP exhibit reduced secretion. This crossover from hypersecretion to undersecretion with KATP loss mirrors insulin secretion during type 2 di... Read More

The PIVOT Trial: Project on EHR-Integrated Lifestyle Interventions for Adults Aged Fifty and Older
Recruiting
This is a multisite clinical trial of healthy lifestyle programs for middle-to-older-aged adults (50 -74 years) to improve their weight and, therefore, reduce risk for chronic disease. This study will investigate whether a proven, self-directed video-based lifestyle program can be significantly enhanced with the assistance of a coach via videoconference or phone to help people as they adopt healthy eating and exercise behaviors. Additionally, the study will examine what factors might explain why... Read More

Continuous Glucose Monitoring, Contingency Management, and Motivational Interviewing for Patients With Type 2 Diabetes in Kansas City
Recruiting
This study is evaluating a behavioral treatment program that uses diabetes coaching and financial rewards in addition to continuous glucose monitoring to improve diabetes management in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. This study will evaluate if this behavioral treatment program increases individual adherence to a diabetes treatment plan and improves blood sugar management.

Implementing the Spotlight AQ Platform in Adolescent/ Young Adult (16-25 Years Old) Type 1 Diabetics (T1D)
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the Spotlight AQ survey platform to the standard of care (SOC) pre-clinic assessment in adolescents \& young adults (16-25 years old) with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does using the Spotlight AQ survey in clinic decrease the A1c in the people who use it? * Do patients and healthcare providers like using the spotlight AQ survey? Participants will use the Spotlight AQ survey before coming in to two standard of... Read More

Investigation of Rifampin to Reduce Pedal Amputations for Osteomyelitis in Diabetics
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to determine if rifampin, an antibiotic (a medicine that treats infections), is effective in treating osteomyelitis (infection of the bone) of the foot in diabetic patients. Despite use of powerful antibiotics prescribed over a long period of time, many diabetic patients remain at a high risk for needing an amputation of part of the foot or lower leg because the osteomyelitis is not cured. Some small research studies have shown that addition of rifampin to o... Read More
