The city of Omaha, Nebraska, currently has 6 active clinical trials seeking participants for Osteoarthritis research studies.
A Master Protocol Study (LY900028) of Multiple Intervention-Specific-Appendices (ISAs) in Participants With Chronic Pain
Recruiting
The purpose of the chronic pain master protocol is to compare independent pain interventions and establish an overarching structure for the disease-state addenda (DSA) and intervention-specific appendices (ISAs). The ISAs may start independently of other ISAs as interventions become available for clinical testing.

Innovations in Genicular Outcomes Registry
Recruiting
The registry will capture prospective data on patients receiving pain management for chronic pain due to knee osteoarthritis (OA) or pain optimization for knee arthroplasty due to knee OA. The OA pain therapies may include cryo nerve block, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), intra-articular (IA) corticosteroids, viscosupplementation, opioids, and others (e.g., non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs]).

Preventing Injured Knees From osteoArthritis: Severity Outcomes
Recruiting
This study is being done to find out if metformin is effective at reducing pain by delaying the onset of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. This research study will compare metformin to placebo. The placebo tablet looks exactly like metformin, but contains no metformin. Placebos are used in research studies to see if the results are due to the study drug or due to other reasons. Metformin is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administrati... Read More

A Pragmatic Trial to Determine the Benefit of Behaviorally Enhanced Exercise Incentives and Corticosteroid Injections in Osteoarthritis of the Knee Marching On for Veterans With Osteoarthritis of the Knee
Recruiting
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most common and disabling conditions among Veterans. Management of KOA is challenging as there are few effective treatments other than joint replacement. Importantly, low levels of physical activity in patients with knee problems might worsen pain and disability. This study aims to determine the feasibility of using methods to change behavior that use social incentives and promote physical activity through playing games and interacting with a web-based pla... Knee Arthroplasty Activity Trial
Recruiting
Total knee replacement (TKR) is a common and costly procedure widely used to relieve pain and improve function in patients with symptomatic advanced knee osteoarthritis (OA). As of 2013, the annual incidence of TKR was over 680,000 surgeries and annual costs exceeded $11 billion. Growing evidence suggests that while pain and functional status improve following TKR, physical activity (PA) typically does not surpass pre-TKR levels. Engagement in PA can meaningfully improve quality of life (QoL), p... Read More
