This randomized phase III trial studies how well crizotinib works in treating patients with stage IB-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer that has been removed by surgery and has a mutation in a protein called anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK). Mutations, or changes, in ALK can make it very active and important for tumor cell growth and progression. Crizotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the ALK protein from working. This project aims to implement a multi-level group randomized trial, delayed intervention that includes components targeting clinics, providers, patients, and the community to increase colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, follow-up, and referral-to-care among patients age 50-74 in 12 counties in Appalachian Kentucky and Ohio. The 12 counties will be assigned to one of two study groups (early vs. delayed) and outcome measures (rate of CRC screening) will be obtained from clinic-level electronic health record data and a county-level behavioral assessment telephone survey. This phase II clinical trial studies how well fulvestrant and palbociclib works in treating older patients with breast cancer that responds to hormone treatment (hormone responsive) that cannot be removed by surgery. Estrogen can cause the growth of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using fulvestrant may fight estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the tumor cells. Palbociclib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving fulvestrant together with palbociclib may be an effective treatment for hormone responsive breast cancer. Read Less

This study evaluates gut microbiome and functional status as modifiable biomarkers in predicting immunotherapy response and toxicity in patients with stage IV non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer receiving pembrolizumab alone or in combination with pemetrexed and carboplatin on the INSIGNIA trial. The goal of this study is to estimate the extent to which future interventions that seek to rationally modify the gut microbiome and/or functional status can improve outcomes. Read Less

This phase II trial studies the side effects of intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy boost and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage I-II breast cancer undergoing surgery with reconstruction. This early phase I trial studies the possible benefits and/or side effects of topical or oral minoxidil in treating endocrine therapy-induced hair loss (alopecia) in patients with stage I-IV breast cancer. Endocrine therapy-induced alopecia (EIA) is a distressing side effect that leads to reduced quality of life and early cessation of therapy in women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Patients on endocrine therapy commonly report hair loss or thinning. Minoxidil is a drug that may promote hair growth and reduce hair loss. Oral minoxidil may increase hair density in women with EIA, and work the same as topical minoxidil in treating EIA in patients with breast cancer. Read Less

This phase Ib/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of nilotinib in preventing paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy in stage I-III breast cancer patients who are receiving paclitaxel therapy. Chemotherapy is the usual or ?standard? treatment for breast cancer. It kills cancer cells and lowers the chance that the cancer will come back. Sometimes, this treatment can cause numbness and tingling, especially in the hands and feet. This is called chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. This study aims to test the safety and effectiveness, both good and bad, of taking nilotinib in preventing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Read Less
