Breast Cancer Paid Clinical Trials in Ohio

The Nanosomal Docetaxel Lipid Suspension (NDLS) consists of uniformly sized micro particles of docetaxel suspended in a lipid based formulation. The advantage of such a Lipid Based formulation of Docetaxel is an improvement of the safety profile by eliminating excipients, polysorbate 80 and ethanol which are present in conventional Docetaxel formulations (Taxotere®). This randomized, open-label study is designed to assess the efficacy and safety of Nanosomal Docetaxel Lipid Suspension at the dose of 75 mg/m2 and at the dose of 100 mg/m2 compared to Taxotere® at the dose of 100 mg/m2 in triple-negative breast cancer patients with Locally Advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer. Patients will continue the treatment in the absence of disease progression and unacceptable toxicity. Disease status and tumor response will be assessed using Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST 1.1) guidelines. 657 patients (219 patients per arm) will be randomized in the study. This clinical trial studies the use of a quality of life intervention called Y-AMBIENT to help young African American with stage I-III breast cancer manage daily life. Y-AMBIENT is a four-month, telephone-based intervention that includes three themed education sessions with three follow-up sessions, written materials, and videos. This clinical trial aims to see if patients with triple negative breast cancer can complete a biobehavioral stress reduction program that also addresses health related social needs (e.g., utilities, transportation, etc.). The stress reduction program is over ten weeks and includes stress reduction (e.g., progressive muscle relaxation), coping, problem solving, communication, and social support. Health related social needs will be evaluated at the beginning of the study, and referrals will be made to social work to help address those needs. This clinical trial assesses if the use of a three-dimensional imaging device called the Clarix Imaging Volumetric Specimen Imager (VSI) can help guide and assist surgeons in identifying and removing all positive margins while in the operating room (intraoperative imaging) for patients with breast cancer and breast ductal carcinoma in situ. Breast conservation surgery or lumpectomy is a standard of care (routine) procedure that removes the tumor and a rim of surrounding normal tissue (margins) while leaving as much normal breast tissue as possible. A margin that does not contain tumor cells is called a negative margin and tells the surgeon that the primary tumor has been removed. A positive margin contains tumor cells at or near the edge of the tissue removed. As part of standard of care, surgeons take two-dimensional x-ray images of the tissue that has been removed in the operating room to assess if there is any additional tissue that should be shaved (removed) to get a negative margin. After the surgery is over, the tissue is examined once again by a pathologist in a laboratory to determine if there are any small pieces of tumor left in the margin that were not visible during surgery. If residual tumor is detected in the margin, a reoperation may be required to remove additional tissue until the tumor has been completely removed from the margin. Diagnostic procedures, such as intraoperative volumetric specimen imaging may reduce the rate of reoperation of for patients who previously underwent lumpectomy. Read Less

This pilot trial studies a telephone-based intervention to see if it increases adherence to adjuvant hormonal therapy in patients with breast cancer. Increasing communication between doctors and patients with breast cancer may help patients to better follow recommendations on taking adjuvant hormonal treatment medication. A telephone-based intervention may help to increase doctor-patient communication and patients' adherence to their prescribed medication. Read Less

The Carevive registry collects patient characteristics, patient symptoms, and treatment experience data from patients receiving cancer treatment for breast, lung, GI or multiple myeloma. For this study, a core set of variables is collected on each patient in the Carevive platform. Patients will complete a baseline survey in person using a secured device or remotely using their own electronic device in a location of their choice. Weekly electronic Patient Reported Outcome surveys are collected from the patients using the Carevive platform for a minimum of 12 weeks.
