This was a study to investigate the potential clinical benefit of trilaciclib (G1T28) in preserving the bone marrow and the immune system, and enhancing chemotherapy antitumor efficacy when administered prior to carboplatin and gemcitabine (GC therapy) for participants with metastatic triple negative breast cancer. The study was an open-label and 102 participants were randomly assigned (1:1:1 fashion) to 1 of the 3 following treatment groups: * Group 1: GC therapy (Days 1 and 8 of 21-day cycles) only (n=34) * Group 2: GC therapy (Days 1 and 8) plus trilaciclib (G1T28) on Days 1 and 8 of 21-day cycles (n=33) * Group 3: GC therapy (Days 2 and 9) plus trilaciclib (G1T28) on Days 1, 2, 8, and 9 of 21-day cycles (n=35) The study included 3 study phases: Screening Phase, Treatment Phase, and Survival Follow-up Phase. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth and by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving sorafenib together with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving sorafenib together with paclitaxel and carboplatin works in treating patients with recurrent ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and doxorubicin hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Isotretinoin may help neuroblastoma cells become more like normal cells, and grow and spread more slowly. Giving combination chemotherapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and make it more likely that the tumor can be surgically removed. It is not yet known what is the minimal amount of chemotherapy needed to achieve sufficient tumor shrinkage to control intermediate risk neuroblastoma and prevent tumor recurrence or metastases. PURPOSE: This phase III trial is designed to reduce therapy for patients with favorable biology intermediate risk neuroblastoma by decreasing the number of chemotherapy cycles administered and by allowing for up to 50% residual tumor volume for patients with localized disease.
