                RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs such as RSR13 may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy.
PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and RSR13 in treating patients who have stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.

                This randomized Phase III, multicenter, open-label study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of atezolizumab (an engineered anti-programmed death-ligand 1 \[PD-L1\] antibody) in combination with carboplatin+nab-paclitaxel compared with treatment with carboplatin+nab-paclitaxel in chemotherapy-naive participants with Stage IV non-squamous NSCLC.                 RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and doxorubicin hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
