Carboplatin Treatment Options in New Jersey

This randomized phase III trial studies carboplatin and paclitaxel to compare how well they work with or without bevacizumab and/or cetuximab in treating patients with stage IV or non-small cell lung cancer that has returned after a period of improvement (recurrent). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Bevacizumab may prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumor needs to grow. Cetuximab may also stop cancer cells from growing by binding and interfering with a protein on the surface of the tumor cell that is needed for tumor growth. It is not yet known whether giving carboplatin and paclitaxel are more effective with or without bevacizumab and/or cetuximab in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Read Less

The primary objective of this study is to estimate whether the addition of trastuzumab to paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy improves progression free survival when compared to paclitaxel and carboplatin alone in Uterine Serous Papillary Carcinoma (USPC) patients overexpressing Her2/neu at 3+ level by immunohistochemistry (IHC)or positive by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). This partially randomized phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of sunitinib malate and to see how well it works when given together with cisplatin or carboplatin and etoposide in treating patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, carboplatin, and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Sunitinib malate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether cisplatin or carboplatin and etoposide are more effective when given with or without sunitinib malate in treating small cell lung cancer. Read Less

This phase II trial studies how well pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride and carboplatin followed by surgery and paclitaxel work in treating patients with stage II-III breast cancer that does not have estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, or large amounts of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)/neu protein (triple negative). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride, carboplatin, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride and carboplatin before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. Giving pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride and carboplatin followed by surgery and paclitaxel may be an effective treatment for breast cancer. Read Less

The purpose of this research study is to look at the effectiveness of a combination of doxil, carboplatin and bevacizumab on metastatic breast cancer. The type of breast cancer being studied is negative for a protein called HER2/neu and for estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR). HER2/neu, ER and PR are part of a family of receptors found on both cancer and normal cells. This family of receptors is important for cell growth and is found in many tumor types.This study is being conducted for the following research purposes:· To find out what effects, if any, the study drug has on metastatic breast cancer. For instance, will the study drug cause the tumor(s) to shrink or stop growing?· To test the safety of the study drugs and to see what affects it has. For instance, are there any side effects? This is a multicenter single arm phase II clinical trial. All eligible patients will receive: Carboplatin (AUC 5) i.v. day 1 plus pemetrexed (500 mg/m2) i.v. day 1 plus atezolizumab 1200 mg i.v. day 1 plus bevacizumab 15 mg/kg i.v. day 1 every 3 weeks for up to 4 cycles.
