Celecoxib, Paclitaxel, and Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Cancer of the Esophagus
Completed
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Celecoxib may increase the effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. Celecoxib may also stop the growth of tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor and/or may block the enzymes necessary for their growth. Combining celecoxib with paclitaxel and carboplatin before surgery may shrink the... Read More

Gemcitabine/Oxaliplatin (GEMOX) vs Carboplatin/Paclitaxel (CP) in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)
Completed
The purpose of this study is to compare combination treatment of gemcitabine + oxaliplatin (GEMOX) with carboplatin + paclitaxel (CP) to determine if there is a difference in response and safety between the two drug combinations for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

CPG 7909 Injection in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Completed
Eligible patients will be randomized in a ratio of 2:1 to receive either chemotherapy (a taxane and a platinum compound) plus CPG 7909 Injection or chemotherapy alone. Protocol therapy will be administered until disease progression or intolerable toxicity. CpG 7909 Injection will be administered subcutaneously, on Weeks 2 and 3 of each three-week cycle (days 8 and 15) and chemotherapy will be administered on Week 1 (Day 1). Patients will undergo complete disease evaluation at the end of every ot... Read More

Paclitaxel With or Without Carboplatin in Treating Women With Metastatic Breast Cancer
Unknown
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known if paclitaxel is more effective with or without carboplatin in treating stage IV breast cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel with or without carboplatin in treating women who have stage IV breast cancer.
