Carboplatin Treatment Options in Philadelphia, PA

This is a phase II clinical trial in patients with metastatic castration sensitive prostate cancer. The objective of the study is to determine the efficacy and further define the safety of the treatment combination. This study will evaluate dose levels of carboplatin AUC 4 with cabazitaxel 20 mg/m2. Patients will be treated with the combination of ADT and carboplatin and cabazitaxel for 6 cycles. After 6 cycles of chemotherapy, they will start abiraterone with ADT. The primary objective is to determine the percent of subjects that have no PSA or radiographic progression at 1 year. Secondary objectives will include determining the progression-free survival, time to PSA nadir and time to PSA progression of carboplatin and cabazitaxel in combination with ADT. Read Less

This phase I trial studies the side effects, best dose, and best way to give pembrolizumab when given together with paclitaxel, carboplatin, and radiation therapy in treating patients with stage II-IIIB non-small cell lung cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving pembrolizumab together with paclitaxel, carboplatin, and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. The primary objective is to determine if mutation load underlies sensitivity to pembrolizumab alone and in combination with chemotherapy. This will be a 3-arm, multi-center, open-label, non-randomized biomarker trial in patients with advanced, treatment-naive NSCLC. This study will consider the safety and effectiveness of a study drug, CAN04, in combination with pembrolizumab, in the treatment of incurable or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, urothelial cancer, or malignant melanoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin hydrochloride, cisplatin, gemcitabine hydrochloride, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Removing the affected upper urinary tract by surgery is the recommended treatment for upper urinary tract cancer, but can cause loss of kidney function and prevent patients from being able to receive chemotherapy after surgery. Giving chemotherapy before surgery, when the kidneys are working at their maximum, may allow less tissue to be removed during surgery and may be more effective in treating patients with high grade upper urinary tract cancer. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of non-small cell lung cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Pemetrexed disodium may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether giving bevacizumab or pemetrexed disodium alone or in combination is more effective in treating non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying bevacizumab and pemetrexed disodium alone or in combination after induction therapy to see how well they work in treating patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer.
