Carboplatin Treatment Options in Philadelphia, PA

This randomized phase II trial studies how well carboplatin and combination chemotherapy with or without veliparib works in treating patients with stage IIB-IIIC breast cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, carboplatin, doxorubicin hydrochloride, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether giving carboplatin and combination chemotherapy are more effective with or without veliparib is more effective in treating breast cancer. Read Less

This is an open-label, single institution, phase II study of Sorafenib in combination with docetaxel and carboplatin in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Docetaxel and carboplatin will be given on day 1 of every three week cycle. Patients will take Sorafenib twice a day on the 1st day of treatment and continue to take the medication every day until progression of disease, prohibitive toxicity, or patient withdrawal from the study. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, etoposide, paclitaxel, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
