Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed. Giving chemotherapy after surgery may kill any tumor cells remaining after surgery.

The purpose of this study is to test the drug RAD001 in combination with another chemotherapy drug, Carboplatin, as well as radiation therapy in the treatment of esophageal cancer. Because RAD001 has not been used in this combination before, it is not clear which dose will be best when used in combination.
The standard of care for patients who have esophageal cancer that has not moved to other areas of the body (non-metastatic) includes a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and possi... Read More

This randomized phase III trial studies pelvic radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with vaginal implant radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin in treating patients with high-risk stage I or stage II endometrial cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Implant radiation therapy uses radioactive material placed directly into or near a tumor to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different wa... Read More
