Cyclophosphamide Treatment Options in New Jersey

This multicenter, non-randomized, open-label, phase 2 study is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pertuzumab (Perjeta) in combination with trastuzumab (Herceptin) and anthracycline-based chemotherapy as neoadjuvant treatment in participants with HER2-positive locally advanced, inflammatory, or early-stage breast cancer. Each investigator will choose a treatment regimen (A or B) for all of their participants to follow. Treatment regimen A (for Cohort A) will include dose-dense doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide (ddAC), followed by paclitaxel, with pertuzumab and trastuzumab given from the start of paclitaxel. Treatment regimen B (for Cohort B) will include 5-fluorouracil, epirubicin, and cyclophosphamide (FEC), followed by docetaxel, with pertuzumab and trastuzumab given from the start of docetaxel. RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and doxorubicin hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Isotretinoin may help neuroblastoma cells become more like normal cells, and grow and spread more slowly. Giving combination chemotherapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and make it more likely that the tumor can be surgically removed. It is not yet known what is the minimal amount of chemotherapy needed to achieve sufficient tumor shrinkage to control intermediate risk neuroblastoma and prevent tumor recurrence or metastases. PURPOSE: This phase III trial is designed to reduce therapy for patients with favorable biology intermediate risk neuroblastoma by decreasing the number of chemotherapy cycles administered and by allowing for up to 50% residual tumor volume for patients with localized disease. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy plus trastuzumab is more effective than combination chemotherapy alone for treating breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well giving combination chemotherapy together with trastuzumab works compared to combination chemotherapy alone in treating women with node-positive stage II or stage IIIA breast cancer that overexpresses HER2. This randomized phase III trial is studying dexamethasone to see how well it works compared to prednisone during induction therapy. This trial is also studying methotrexate and leucovorin calcium to see how well they work compared to methotrexate alone during maintenance therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as dexamethasone, prednisone, methotrexate, and leucovorin calcium, work in different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy alone or combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy is more effective for childhood kidney cancer. This study will find the highest acceptable treatment dose of cord blood, culture expanded natural killer (NK) cells, a kind of immune cell, in patients with relapsed and/or refractory acute myeloid leukemia. The NK cells will be given with chemotherapy and Recombinant human interleukin 2 (rhIL-2) to help the NK cells expand in the body. The safety of this treatment will be studied and researchers want to learn if NK cells will help in treating the AML. Read Less
