Dexamethasone Treatment Options in Florida

The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of 3 different regimens of panobinostat (20 milligrams \[mg\] thrice a week \[TIW\], 20 mg twice a week \[BIW\], and 10 mg TIW) in combination with subcutaneous bortezomib and dexamethasone and to provide exposure, safety and efficacy data to identify the optimal regimen of panobinostat in a randomized, 3-arm parallel design. This study will also assess the impact of administering subcutaneous bortezomib (in combination with panobinostat and dexamethasone) twice weekly for 4 cycles, and then weekly starting from Cycle 5 until disease progression in participants ≤ 75 years of age. Participants \> 75 years of age will receive subcutaneous bortezomib weekly for the entire treatment period (in combination with panobinostat and dexamethasone) until disease progression. Participants will be treated until disease progression or until they discontinue earlier due to unacceptable toxicity or for other reasons. Participants who discontinued study treatment for reasons other than disease progression will be followed for efficacy every 6 weeks. This phase III trial studies combination chemotherapy with or without lestaurtinib with to see how well they work in treating younger patients with newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of stop cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Lestaurtinib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without lestaurtinib in treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Read Less

Few studies are specifically designed to address health concerns that are already relevant during pregnancy. The consequence is a lack of evidence on best clinical practice. This includes mothers and their babies when pregnancy is complicated by an abnormally slow heart rate due to maternal antibody-mediated heart disease in the unborn baby (fetus). Since the late seventies, it has been possible to detect and monitor fetal disease by ultrasound images and to treat selected conditions with pharmaceuticals administered via the mother. To this day, physicians need to make decisions about the management of such pregnancies without evidence from prospective clinical trials on drug efficacy and safety. The SLOW HEART REGISTRY is a multi-centered prospective observational study that will address the knowledge gap to guide future management of high-degree immune-mediated heart block to the best of care. This partially randomized phase II trial studies how well brentuximab vedotin or crizotinib and combination chemotherapy works in treating patients with newly diagnosed stage II-IV anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Brentuximab vedotin is a monoclonal antibody, called brentuximab, linked to a toxic agent called vedotin. Brentuximab attaches to CD30 positive cancer cells in targeted way and delivers vedotin to kill them. Crizotinib and methotrexate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether brentuximab vedotin and combination chemotherapy is more effective than crizotinib and combination chemotherapy in treating anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Read Less
