Dexamethasone Treatment Options in New Jersey

The investigators seek to assess the effect of pre-operative and continued post-operative corticosteroid use on pain, patient preference, visual outcomes, and change in objective quantifiable biological parameters in patients undergoing bilateral cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implantation with or without baseline ocular surface disease. Patient's first eye scheduled for surgery will receive an intracanalicular insertion of DEXTENZA (dexamethasone release profile of QID, TID, BID, QD, over 30 days; study eye). The fellow-eye will receive topical prednisolone acetate 1% (tapering schedule of QID, TID, BID, QD over 30 days). RATIONALE: Epoetin alfa may stimulate red blood cell production and may help improve cancer-related anemia and fatigue. Steroid therapy with dexamethasone may increase the effectiveness of epoetin alfa. It is not yet known if epoetin alfa is more effective with or without dexamethasone in treating anemia-related fatigue in patients with prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying epoetin alfa and dexamethasone to see how well they work compared to epoetin alfa alone in treating anemia-related fatigue in patients with prostate cancer that is refractory to treatment with hormone therapy. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of the combination of pomalidomide, bortezomib and low dose dexamethasone to the combination of bortezomib and low dose dexamethasone in participants with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. The Phase 1 primary objectives of this study were to assess the safety profile, characterize pharmacokinetics (PK) and determine the dosing schedule, maximum tolerated dose (MTD), and recommended Phase 2 dose (RPTD) of ABT-199 (venetoclax) when administered in participants with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This phase II clinical trial studies how well dasatinib followed by stem cell transplant works in treating older patients with newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Dasatinib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving chemotherapy before a stem cell transplant stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. Monoclonal antibodies, such as alemtuzumab, may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) and giving dasatinib together with chemotherapy may kill more cancer cells. Read Less

Multiple myeloma (MM) accounts for more than 10% of all blood cancers and 1% of all cancers. The purpose of this study is to assess how safe lemzoparlimab is and how lemzoparlimab moves through the body of adult participants with MM when given with or without dexamethasone, and in combination with other anti-myeloma regimens. Adverse events and change in disease activity will be assessed. Lemzoparlimab is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (R/R) MM. Study doctors put the participants in groups called treatment arms. Two different dose levels of lemzoparlimab will be explored. Each treatment arm receives a different treatment combination depending on stage of the study and eligibility. This study will include a dose escalation phase to determine the best dose of lemzoparlimab, followed by a dose expansion phase to confirm the dose. Approximately 163 adult participants with R/R MM will be enrolled in the study in approximately 60 sites worldwide. In the Dose Escalation arms, participants will receive intravenous (IV) lemzoparlimab with or without dexamethasone (oral/IV) in combination with pomalidomide (oral) or carfilzomib (IV) or subcutaneous (SC) daratumumab in 28-day cycles. In the Dose Expansion arms, participants will receive lemzoparlimab (IV) alone or with dexamethasone (oral/IV) in combination with pomalidomide (oral) or carfilzomib (IV) or daratumumab (SC) in 28-day cycles. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at an approved institution (hospital or clinic). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of several combination therapies for Multiple Myeloma. Upon entry into the study, patients will be randomized (assigned by chance) to receive either: Group 1: nivolumab, pomalidomide and dexamethasone OR Group 2: pomalidomide and dexamethasone OR Group 3: nivolumab, elotuzumab, pomalidomide and dexamethasone. This is an open-label, multicenter study to confirm the safety and efficacy of durvalumab + daratumumab (D2) in subjects with relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma. This study will also explore the safety and efficacy of the addition of pomalidomide + dexamethasone to durvalumab + daratumumab (PD3). On 05 Sep 2017, a Partial Clinical Hold was placed on this study by the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The decision by the FDA was based on data related to risks of anti-programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) antibody, pembrolizumab, in combination with IMiDs® immunomodulatory drugs in patients with multiple myeloma. As a result, enrollment into this study has been discontinued.
