This study compares semaglutide, together with a lower dose of insulin glargine, to a higher dose of insulin glargine in participants with type 2 diabetes. The study looks at how well the study medicines control blood glucose levels. Participants will either get semaglutide together with a lower dose of insulin glargine or a higher dose of insulin glargine. The study will last for about 47 weeks (approximately 11 months). Participants will have 9 clinic visits, 15 phone/video calls and 1 home visit. Semaglutide is a medicine studied in patients with NASH. Semaglutide is a well-known medicine, which is already used by doctors to treat type 2 diabetes in many countries. Participants will either get semaglutide or a dummy medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to inject themselves with medicine under the skin. Participants will need to do this once a week. The study will last for about 5 years. Participants will have up to 21 clinic visits and 9 phone calls with the clinical staff during the study. Some of the clinic visits may be spread over more than one day. Participants with other chronic liver diseases cannot take part in this study. This study is done to find out whether the medicine, semaglutide, has a positive effect on early Alzheimer's disease. Participants will either get semaglutide or placebo (a "dummy" medicine which does not contain any study medicine) - which treatment participants get is decided by an equal chance. The study will last for up to 173 weeks (about 3 years and 4 months). Participants will have 17 clinic visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor. The study includes various tests and scans. At 10 of the clinic visits participants will have blood samples taken. Participants must have a study partner, who is willing to take part in the study. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period. A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sub-study will be performed as a part of the study. The sub-study will be performed on a selection of sites based on their experience with CSF sampling and willingness to participate in this sub-study. This study will compare the new medicine IcoSema, which is a combination of insulin icodec and semaglutide, taken once a week, to semaglutide taken once a week in people with type 2 diabetes. The study will look at how well IcoSema controls blood sugar level in people with type 2 diabetes compared to semaglutide. Participants will either get IcoSema or semaglutide. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. IcoSema is a new medicine that doctors cannot prescribe. Doctors can already prescribe semaglutide in many countries. Participants will get IcoSema or semaglutide, which they must inject once a week with a pen, which has a small needle, in a skin fold in the thigh, upper arm, or stomach. The study will last for about 1 year and 1 month. Participants will have 18 clinic visits, 34 phone/video calls with the study doctor, and 4 contacts with the site that can either be clinic visits or phone/video calls. At 11 clinic visits participants will have blood samples taken. At 7 clinic visits participants cannot eat or drink (except for water) for 8 hours before the visit.
