Improving Muslim Women's Uptake of Cancer Screening (IMCAN)
Recruiting
The goal of this non-randomised trial is to test how a workshop that includes religiously-tailored messages can help increase the uptake of breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screening among Muslim women in North East England and Scotland.
The results of this trial will inform the development of a full-scale randomised-controlled trial.
Participants in this study will be asked to take part in a two-hour workshop, deliver either online or in-person.

A Study Evaluating the Safety, Pharmacokinetics and Early Efficacy of AVA6000 in Solid Tumours
Recruiting
This is a first-in-human (FIH), Phase 1 open-label, multicentre dose escalation study investigating AVA6000 monotherapy administered intravenously in patients with locally advanced (unresectable) or metastatic solid tumours that are likely to be FAP positive. The study consists of an initial Phase 1a dose escalation portion and a subsequent Phase 1b dose expansion portion upon completion of the dose escalation portion.

Chemotherapy Induced Cognitive Impairment
Recruiting
Chemotherapy is toxic and challenges everyone differently. Most chemotherapy side-effects are known and well documented. However, the phenomenon of "chemo fog" also known as "chemobrain" has not been fully investigated and is often based on comments of breast cancer patients attending outpatient clinics during and after their chemotherapy. Changes in thinking ability like lack of concentration, loss of memory and the inability to hold a thought or even a conversation has a significant impact on... Read More

Biological Matrices Versus Synthetic Meshes
Recruiting
In this feasibility study, 60 women undergoing reconstruction will be randomly allocated to receive biological or synthetic mesh and followed for 6 months. The findings will tell us if patients and surgeons are comfortable with not being able to choose which mesh is used for the operation. In the larger surgical study, the investigators plan to measure patients' satisfaction with the reconstruction, patients' quality of life, complications from the operation and costs over 5 years.

The EMBRACE Study The EMBRACE Study
Recruiting
Cardiomyopathy is a condition that affects the heart muscle, whereby it becomes enlarged, thick or rigid. When the heart muscle becomes involved, it affects the pumping action of the heart. This condition can affect as many as 10% of all patients after undergoing anthracycline cancer drug therapy and unfortunately carries the worst prognosis of all cardiomyopathies. To date, there is no effective intervention that will prevent a patient from developing this condition. The research conducted will... Read More

Breast Cancer Evolution During Neoadjuvant Systemic Therapy
Recruiting
BELIEVE is a translational research study that aims to collect samples of breast cancer tissue and blood from individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment (such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy) before surgery. In certain cases, MRI scans and stool samples will also be obtained before and during treatment. The samples collected from this study will be used for molecular and genetic research to understand why some cancers respond very well to anticancer treatments, and some d... Read More

Axillary Management in Breast Cancer Patients with Needle Biopsy Proven Nodal Metastases After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy
Recruiting
The aim of this study is to assess whether, omitting further axillary treatment (ALND and ART) for patients with early stage breast cancer and axillary nodal metastases on needle biopsy, who after NACT have no residual cancer in the lymph nodes on sentinel node biopsy, is non-inferior to axillary treatment in terms of disease free survival (DFS) and results in reduced risk of lymphoedema at 5 years.

HERPET- A Novel PET Imaging Study of HER2 in Breast Cancer
Recruiting
This mechanistic study will be the first study to assess the efficacy of \[18F\]GE-226 to target HER2 expression in patients with metastatic breast cancer. The study will establish the pharmacokinetics of \[18F\]GE-226 and the optimum time-point for performing static scans in this patient population.

Laser Speckle Imaging During Breast Reconstruction
Recruiting
Around 3500 women a year have surgery to reconstruct a breast/s after cancer. Breast reconstruction can have a positive impact on their lives, but unfortunately 3 or 4 in 10 women have problems with healing after their operation. This is distressing and often leads to more medical care or surgery. These problems are often caused by poor blood flow to the skin and deeper tissues used to reconstruct the breast. The investigators have developed a new device that does not touch the skin and provides... Read More

An Investigation Into Dielectric Assessment of Permittivity and Conductivity in Human Using a Novel Electrical Capacitance Tomography Scanner
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to investigate the ability of a the Z-scanner to identify and differentiate cancer and benign lesions from healthy breast tissue based on permittivity. The main questions it aims to answer are:
1. Determine the permittivity values of the Z-scanner associated with healthy, benign, and malignant tissue in human breasts.
2. Determine the repeatability, reproducibility, inter-and intra-operator variability of the Z-scanner.
