Staged Bilateral Exablate Treatment of Medication Refractory Essential Tremor
Recruiting
The objective of this prospective, multi-site, single-arm, open-label study is to capture the safety and efficacy (outcome) of bilateral staged Exablate treatment in subjects with bilateral medication-refractory essential tremor (ET). The staged second procedure will be performed at least 9 months after the first side. The benefit of real-time feedback will allow the physician to maximize benefit without jeopardizing safety.
This study is designed as a prospective, open-label, single arm, multi... Read More

Left Ventricular Thrombus Registry
Recruiting
Left Ventricular Thrombus (LVT) is a blood clot that can develop in a poorly functioning heart. In around 1 in 6 patients who have had a heart attack or diagnosed with heart failure tend to develop blood clots in their main heart chamber.
Having a blot clot in the main heart chamber can lead to serious complications such as stroke. Treatment for blood clots is blood thinning medications, which if taken for a prolonged period of time can result in bleeding which further complicates treatment. We... Read More

PASS to Assess Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Events in COPD Patients Initiating Fixed Triple Therapy (DPI or pMDI)
Recruiting
The aim of this Post Authorisation Safety Study (PASS) is to assess the incidence of adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in COPD patients who are new to inhaled fixed triple therapy (dual bronchodilator plus corticosteroid) administered via Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) compared to new users of pressurized Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI).
Data from clinical practice from different European data sources will be collected. The baseline hypothesis is that the DPI is not associated with differ... Read More

GEneRating Mucosal Immunity After INfluenzA Infection and Vaccination in Lung and Lymphoid TissuE
Recruiting
This experimental medicine study aims to compare immune responses in healthy adult volunteers aged 18-40 years against influenza vaccination and infection in the upper and lower respiratory tract, following administration of a live-attenuated influenza vaccine delivered by nasal spray versus influenza A (H3N2) viral challenge.

Ambroxol to Slow Progression in Parkinson Disease
Recruiting
This is a UK only clinical trial in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) of a drug called ambroxol hydrochloride, which is an already licensed drug for the treatment of respiratory conditions (such as a common cold) in many European countries. The aim of this trial is to find out whether ambroxol hydrochloride can slow down the progression of Parkinson's disease and to evaluate it's safety and tolerability.

SPECTA: Screening Cancer Patients for Efficient Clinical Trial Access
Recruiting
SPECTA is a quality assured platform for collecting clinicopathologically annotated biological material, imaging data, operative images, environmental assessment, questionnaires as well as patient-reported outcomes from cancer patients to support biospecimen-based translational research and clinical cancer research, including biomarker discovery to improve the understanding of tumor biology and cancer patients care.

The Effect of Upper Limb Low-intensity Motor Control Training Program on Cognitive Function in Healthy Older Adults
Recruiting
This healthy volunteer intervention study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of upper limb motor control training (uMCT) on physical and cognitive functions in older adults. The primary objectives of the study are twofold:
Assess the Impact on Physical and Neuromuscular Function: The study seeks to determine whether uMCT positively influences physical performance, including motor coordination and neuromuscular function, in older adults.
Assessment the Impact on Cognitive Function: The s... Read More

Tolerance in Beekeepers
Recruiting
Beekeepers experience multiple bee stings each year. Many of these beekeepers (25-60%) become sensitized to bee venom through the production of specific antibodies that target the bee venom. Although these antibodies are important in the triggering of an allergic reaction only a small number of sensitised beekeepers go on to have an allergic reaction with symptoms away from the site of the sting. These reactions can be severe and are known as anaphylactic reactions.
The study investigates why s... Read More

Volatile Organic Compounds as Breath Biomarkers in Squamous Oesophageal Neoplasms
Recruiting
Oesophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) is a cancer of the food pipe that affects around 2000 patients in the UK every year. It is often detected at an advanced stage, resulting in poor survival (5-year survival less than 20%). Early detection can improve survival (5-year survival \>70%). Therefore, early detection is vital to improving survival.
There are no national screening guidelines, and an endoscopy (A camera test to look at the food pipe) is the only available test to detect OSCC.

Can the Use of Virtual Reality Improve TKA Outcomes
Recruiting
Virtual reality (VR) uses computer technology to create a three-dimensional environment which the user can explore and interact with. VR can be used to distract the patient during an operation and has been used to avoid sedative premedication, increase patient satisfaction and decrease pain during nerve blocks. VR used alongside spinal anaesthetic for hip, knee and ankle operations has shown a trend of less sedation being required with no decrease in patient satisfaction.
