Study to Evaluate the Non-inferiority of Low-dose HIPEC Versus High-dose HIPEC in the Treatment of PMP (HIPEC-PMP)
Recruiting
The Investigators are researching how to improve the treatment currently available for patients diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). This is a rare cancer that usually starts in the appendix and spreads around the abdomen. PMP is usually treated using a type of surgery called Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS). During the surgery heated chemotherapy will also be used to treat any cancer cells that cannot be seen and may be left behind. This is called Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (... Read More

Development of a Biomarker Panel for the Earlier Prediction of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients With Diabetes
Recruiting
Patients living with diabetes mellitus have double the risk of kidney failure compared to patients without diabetes following use of dye in many x-rays and procedures to diagnose and treat narrowing of the arteries (blood vessels) in the heart that can lead to angina or a heart attack. Heart disease is the commonest cause of death in patients with diabetes. People with diabetes are more likely to need these tests/treatments. By identifying those at greater risk of kidney complications we may be... Read More

Measuring and Mapping Cognitive Decline After Brain Radiosurgery
Recruiting
Background Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) is a localised radiotherapy treatment for patients with brain metastases or other benign tumours in the brain, like meningiomas. The Investigators do not currently know if, or how much, SRS affects brain function. Patients with brain tumours do not get tested routinely for their brain function. Understanding short- and long-term side-effects is important for SRS. Brain metastases patients have short life expectancies (6-months to 1-year). However, meni... Read More

Molecular Imaging of Inflammation in Parkinson's Disease Using LPS and TSPO-PET/MR
Recruiting
It is not known what causes Parkinson's disease and what makes it worsen over time. Research conducted in the past few years has highlighted the possible role of inflammation on this process but its actual mechanisms are still obscure. In this study, the investigators aim to gain understanding on how inflammation is increased in Parkinson's disease and what are its mechanisms, by performing two Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans using the tracer \[11C\]PBR28, that takes pictures of the br... Assessing Central Aspects of Pain
Recruiting
BACKGROUND: Chronic pain continues for more than 12 weeks despite medication or treatment. Chronic pain is the main symptom of muscle and joint problems, rarely explained by damage to the muscle and joints alone. Activity in the central nervous system (CNS; nerves, spinal cord, and brain) pathways governs our ability to describe pain intensity and our emotional response to pain. Musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, fibromyalgia) share altered C... Read More

The Tommy's National Rainbow Clinic Study
Recruiting
The death of a baby before or shortly after birth affects approximately 1 in every 250 pregnancies in the UK meaning that over 4,000 parents experience the death of a baby each year in the UK. The majority of women who have experienced the loss of a baby will have another pregnancy, usually within a year. Our analysis of 14 studies concluded that parents need specialist support from doctors and midwives in a future pregnancy to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications and to provide the care...
