Heuristics, Algorithms and Machine Learning: Evaluation & Testing in Radiation Therapy
Recruiting
The Hamlet.rt study is a prospective data collection and patient questionnaire study for patients undergoing image-guided radiotherapy with curative intent. The aim of the study is to use novel machine learning and mathematical techniques to build a model that can predict the risk of significant side effects from radiotherapy treatment for an individual patient: using calculations of normal tissue dose from radiotherapy treatment planning and patient baseline characteristics derived from image... Rescue for Emergency Surgery Patients Observed to uNdergo Acute Deterioration
Recruiting
This is a Five Year programme designed to identify and evaluate human factors interventions to improve the response to patients deteriorating following emergency surgery. The programme comprises four work packages: Work Package 1: Qualitative interviews and observations to analyse current rescue systems; Work Package 2: Identify and co-design interventions to improve rescue systems, involving both staff and patients and carers; Work Package 3: Mixed-methods feasibility trial across 3 sites in E... Anatomic Stenosis Severity as a Prognostic Marker in Patients With Low-Flow Low-Gradient Aortic Stenosis Undergoing TAVI
Recruiting
The ATLAS TAVI Registry is a retrospective, investigator-initiated, multicenter registry including patients, who underwent Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for classical or paradoxical low-flow, low-gradient aortic stenosis (LFLG AS) with available non-contrast MSCT data on aortic valve calcification (AVC). The main objective of this study is the assessment of outcome after TAVI according to AVC density severity in patients with LFLG AS.

Targeted Stem Cells Expressing TRAIL as a Therapy for Lung Cancer
Recruiting
The aim of the study is to evaluate the safety and anti-tumour activity of MSCTRAIL in addition to chemotherapy in metastatic Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in a Phase I/II clinical trial. In the phase I study, patients will receive cisplatin and pemetrexed on day one followed by MSCTRAIL cells on day 2. This constitutes one cycle of treatment. Each patient will receive 3 cycles of treatment at 21 day intervals. The aim of phase 1 is to estimate the recommended Phase II dose (RP2D)... Read More

Mechanisms of Excess Risk in Aortic Stenosis
Recruiting
Aortic stenosis (AS) is caused by narrowing of one of the main heart valves. Replacing the valve is the only treatment to prevent the heart from failing or death. The timing of replacement is currently often too late - half of patients are left with permanent scarring and a quarter die within 3.5 years. Studies are underway to see if earlier replacement makes a difference. But for those with scarring of the heart, there is currently no tailored treatment. I want to change this by understanding... Gut Hormones and Roux en Y Gastric Bypass
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to assess whether the changes in gut hormones seen following Roux en Y Gastric Bypass surgery are responsible for some of the beneficial effects seen post-operatively.

Prognostic Imaging Biomarkers for Diabetic Kidney Disease
Recruiting
Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a common complication of diabetes, and is now the most common form of chronic kidney disease. DKD is the leading cause of kidney disease requiring dialysis or kidney transplantation, and its global incidence and prevalence have reached epidemic levels. While the risk of developing DKD can be ameliorated by tight blood glucose and blood pressure control, it is not fully preventable and once established DKD cannot be cured. Therefore many patients are left with poo... Read More

iCorMicA - Stratified Medicine in Angina
Recruiting
The iCorMicA study is a multicentre, prospective, randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled, parallel-group, end-point trial and registry. The investigators seek to determine whether stratified medical therapy guided by an adjunctive interventional diagnostic procedure (IDP) during the invasive management of patients with known or suspected angina but no obstructive coronary artery disease improves symptoms, wellbeing, cardiovascular risk and clinical outcomes.
