The goal of this observational trial is to compare the health history and motion capabilities of participants with low back pain disorders to participants with healthy spines. The main question[s] it aims to answer are to: Primary outcomes of this research effort include the development of composite measures or digital biomarkers to track functional recovery over time and predict duty or work status outcomes (return-to-full duty/work, limited duty/work restrictions or medical discharge/long-term disability). Secondary outcomes of this research effort include characterization of motion assessment utility to predict reinjury risk and evaluate intervention effectiveness. In addition, exploratively, the investigators will determine biopsychosocial profiles of low back pain, and neck pain military populations to identify low back and neck pain phenotypes. Participants will complete questionnaires and wear a motion monitor that will assess the participant's back and/or neck. This session will be approximately 40-70 minutes. The research team will follow up with participants at 3 month, 6 months, and 1 year to complete a short series of questionnaires and a motion assessment test. Read Less

In-office procedures (IOPs) are a cost-effective, and safe alternative to many operating room procedure, with benefits such as reduced anesthesia risk. One of the major causes of failed in-office procedures or requirement of conversion to the operating room is poor patient tolerance. Vibration and augmented reality (AR) can be used as non-pharmacologic treatment options to treat patient anxiety and pain by using the physiology proposed by the gate-way theory of pain as well as distraction. This study seeks to compare anxiety and pain perception with patient reported survey data, as well as physiologic indicators of stress such as heart rate variability (HRV) within patients undergoing IOPs in a laryngology office with and without vibration and AR treatment. The purpose of this post-market study is to evaluate the real-world experience of Nevro's Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) therapy in patients with chronic, intractable leg pain due to painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN). This is a multicenter, prospective, observational global study, that will partner diabetes management teams with pain physicians to provide an interdisciplinary treatment regimen for PDN patients. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of a positive affect enhancing intervention designed to reduce pain and augment reward system function in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The scientific premise is that patient use of a positive emotion generative practice - savoring meditation, which has been demonstrated to reduce pain in experimental laboratory settings, enhanced with a pain neuroscience education component about reward system dysfunction as a chronic pain mechanism - is optimally suited to reduce postsurgical pain and augment reward system functioning relative to a Pain Self-Management and Education (PSME) condition. We will randomize 150 patients with KOA undergoing unilateral TKA to a brief, 4-session (20-30 minutes each) course of Savoring Meditation (SM; n = 75) or PSME (n = 75) delivered remotely by trained interventionists in a one-on-one format. We will assess pain and as well as pain-related risk and protective factors both via questionnaire and via weeklong ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data bursts on the following schedule: baseline, post-surgery, and 3-month follow-up. In addition, participants will attend laboratory testing sessions at baseline and 6-weeks post-surgery, during which affective pain modulation and electroencephalographic (EEG) brain biomarkers associated with pain and affect will be recorded. Liposomal bupivacaine (trade name Exparel) is a local analgesic that is designed to produce more long-term pain control. Bupivacaine, a widely used local analgesic, is stored within liposomes, which break down in soft tissue over time. Typical length of therapeutic effect for standard bupivacaine is up to 6 hours. The liposomal formulation of bupivacaine, however, has a length of therapeutic effect of up to 72 hours. Typical post-operative incisional pain is known to last for several days in most cases and is thought to peak between 1-2 days after surgery. The purpose of this research is to gather post-market data regarding the effectiveness of the SPRINT Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) System for the treatment of chronic shoulder pain due to chronic degenerative changes of your shoulder. The System delivers mild electrical stimulation to the muscles in your shoulder. The System includes up to two leads (small wires) that are placed through your skin into your shoulder. The leads attach to a device worn on your body that deliver stimulation (called a Stimulator). The device is cleared by the FDA for up to 60 days of use for the relief of chronic or acute pain.
