Clinical Research for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency–Associated Liver Disease

The Redwood Study is currently enrolling adults 18 to 75 years of age with Alpha-1
Liver Disease. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how safe and effective an
investigational study drug is compared to a placebo (both groups will receive
injections, but the placebo contains no active medication) in the treatment of liver
disease. If you or any of your family members have a confirmed or suspected
diagnosis of Alpha-1 Liver Disease, you may be eligible.

Lowering Food Insecurity and Improving Diabetes With Financial Incentives

The overarching aim of this proposal is to test the efficacy of financial incentives in improving HbA1c, blood pressure, and quality of life in food insecure adults with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes. Using a clinical trial design, the investigators will randomize food insecure adults with type 2 diabetes to one of three financial incentive structures in combination with monthly mailings that will include diabetes education, healthy recipes, and meal planning resources.

Genetics Of Autoimmunity In Type I Diabetes

The purpose of this study is to gain more information about the step-by-step process that causes someone to develop type 1 diabetes. Scientists think that a person's own immune system, directed by genetic and environmental factors play a major role in its development. Participation involves a blood draw, a brief medical history questionnaire and measurements of height and weight. Some participants will be asked to return for annual follow-up visits for 10 years.

This study aims to determine whether Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v (Lp299v) supplementation will reduce systemic inflammation and prolong residual beta cell function in individuals newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
