Rhaeos, Inc. is initially targeting hydrocephalus, a life threatening condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Implantable shunts, the gold standard treatment, often fail, leading to multiple trips to the emergency room and repeat surgeries. There is no technology available today that can easily assess CSF flow in shunts wirelessly, bedside, and without capital equipment until now. FlowSense, is a wireless, noninvasive thermal flow sensor that can be mounted on a patient's neck overlying the shunt to detect the presence and magnitude of CSF. Similar in size to a bandage, it is composed of soft, silicone with no hard edges. Data is wirelessly transmitted to a custom designed mobile app. With FlowSense, monitoring of shunt function can occur in clinics, in-patient settings, and emergency departments, thereby reducing unnecessary imaging, hospital length of stay, and readmission costs. The goal of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of orally taken probiotic (R-3750) in patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. Patients will take an oral dosage of probiotic (R-3750) and provide patient-reported and physician scored measures of their colitis. This study is for patients who have bladder cancer that invades into the muscle wall of the bladder. The standard treatment for patients with muscle invasive bladder cancer is to give 4 cycles of chemotherapy with the drugs cisplatin and gemcitabine, then to do an operation to remove the bladder (cystectomy). In this study, the investigators will test participants' bladder cancer to see if their bladder cancer has a receptor for testosterone inside the bladder cancer cells. If it has the testosterone receptor participants will receive a medication called Degarelix that lowers testosterone levels in the blood. Degarelix will be given during the period that participants are receiving the standard of care chemotherapy drugs gemcitabine and cisplatin. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects, good and bad, of adding Degarelix to standard chemotherapy for patients with bladder cancer that have the testosterone receptor. Read Less

Acute kidney injury is a significant complication for infants who experience hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, being associated with increased rates of death and prolonged hospitalization. This pilot study of theophylline administration soon after birth for the prevention of kidney injury will lay the foundation for the conduct of a larger clinical trial that seeks to identify a theophylline as a novel therapy to prevent kidney injury in thousands of at-risk infants. The purpose of this research is to better understand how emotion processing unfolds in the brain using stereoelectroencephalography (sEEG) and direct brain stimulation. This study will use standard behavioral emotion processing tasks combined with neural recording and direct brain stimulation to assess different aspects of emotion processing. Stimulation pulses during pre and post-test periods will assess the effects of stimulation before and after conditioning, the results of which will be combined with results from the activity of each electrode during the emotion tasks to inform us of the nature of emotion processing in the brain and allow us to devise brain modulation protocols in the future. Patients with breast cancer that elect to undergo implant-based breast reconstruction (IBBR) often require the placement of a surgical drain. Surgical drains are used to manage dead space and prevent seroma formation or accumulation of fluid within the surgical field postoperatively. The most frequently used drain is a Jackson-Pratt (JP) drain, which is limited by poor surgical site coverage and low capacity, leading to inconsistent suction and prolonged time that a drain is left in place. The Interi Drain system is a novel, multi-branched manifold with a proprietary suction system that provides consistent suction and addresses many of the shortcoming of JP drains. The purpose of this study is to compare the Interi system to standard JP drains across outcomes including number of surgical drain sites, complication rates, time to drain removal, time to initiate tissue expansion, total fluid volume drained, and patient satisfaction.
