The Cytophone is a first in the world patented system to identify and count single circulating melanoma cells in blood circulation inside the human body. The Cytophone has a unique capability to find rare melanoma cells in the blood by an assessment of 100-500 times greater amounts of blood volume than routine blood tests. The important benefit of the Cytophone diagnosis is that the test does not require injection or any skin incision (i.e., non-invasiveness). The goal of this clinical trial is to demonstrate evidence of the capability of the Cytophone test to indicate a risk of metastasis and define CTC counts that correlate with melanoma recurrence, progression of metastatic disease, and therapy efficacy. Although cochlear implants can restore hearing to individuals who have lost cochlear hair cell function, there is no widely available, adequately effective treatment for individuals suffering chronic imbalance, postural instability and unsteady vision due to bilateral vestibular hypofunction. Prior research focused on ototoxic cases has demonstrated that electrical stimulation of the vestibular nerve via a chronically implanted multichannel vestibular implant can partially restore vestibular reflexes that normally maintain steady posture and vision; improve performance on objective measures of postural stability and gait; and improve patient-reported disability and health-related quality of life. This single-arm open-label study extends that research to evaluate outcomes for up to 8 individuals with non-ototoxic bilateral vestibular hypofunction, yielding a total of fifteen adults (age 22-90 years at time of enrollment) divided as equally as possible between ototoxic and non-ototoxic cases. Currently, there is a nationwide epidemic of opioid abuse and overdose deaths. One source of excess opioids is overprescribing in the postoperative period. This study aims to find the optimal pain medication plan during and after laparoscopic hysterectomy to eliminate long-term opioid use. Given the increasing opioid abuse and over-prescription post-operatively, an effort should be made to determine whether one time dosing of Methadone, a longer opioid analgesics, intra-operatively is an adequate potential in treating postoperative pain after hysterectomy surgeries. The investigators hypothesize that this could minimize the need for additional post-operative and outpatient opioid prescriptions and decrease the adverse effects that are associated with the consumption, including new opioid abuse.
