The purpose of this study is to see if siltuximab plus population pharmacokinetic (PK)-dosed melphalan works as well as the usual approach (body surface area \[BSA\]-dosed melphalan) in people with multiple myeloma (MM) who are receiving an autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) as part of their standard treatment. The researchers will also see if siltuximab in combination with population PK-dosed melphalan works to decrease symptoms after an ASCT, and will study the safety of siltuximab. For the run-in, 15 patients will receive siltuximab, 11 mg/kg, seven days before and 14 days after autologous hematopoietic stem cell infusion (+/-2 day). Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effect of digitally delivered programs on the health, wellbeing, and functioning of newly diagnosed cancer patients. Participants will be randomized to one of two digital programs. Both groups are equally important for the study. Participants will be asked to complete: * Questionnaires. Answers to the questionnaires will help the investigators understand how participants doing through the study. * Modules. Participants will receive access to digital courses developed by experts at Stanford University. * Blood Samples. The purpose of this clinical trial is to determine the impact of a home-based pulmonary rehabilitation program with health coaching on patient-reported respiratory-related quality of life and physical activity, as compared to usual care in patients with fibrotic interstitial lung disease. A small, pilot proof-of-concept placebo-controlled trial to explore the effects of albumin on diuresis in patients with cirrhosis, ascites and lower extremity edema. We will additionally investigate albumin's effect on preventing neurohumoral activation, and acute kidney injury after diuresis. Read Less

There are a variety of educational documents available to help in a participant's decision for VAD implant, however there is little information available to potential participants to help understand areas of satisfaction and concern following a VAD implant as various time points. The investigators want to provide better patient care through increased education and awareness beyond surgical outcomes and contribute to patient understanding of "what to expect" following a VAD implant. The investigators have created an anticipatory guidance (AG) tool based upon previous responses recorded in a local program's database, from the Quality of Life with a Left Ventricular Assist Device (QoLVAD) questionnaire. This questionnaire has five different domains (physical, social, emotional, cognitive thinking and spiritual/well-being). Investigators have previously analyzed responses to determine common areas of satisfaction and concern at 3-, 6-, 12- and 24-months post-VAD implant to better understand quality of life when living with a VAD. The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if/how an AI chatbot can support patients who in recovery for substance use, specifically those who are receiving medication for opioid use disorder. Can the chatbot help lower drug use? Can the chatbot help improve clinical appointment adherence? Can the chatbot help patients build self-efficacy in leading their own recovery journey? Will the chatbot help reduce workload burden for primary care teams? Can the chatbot serve as a safe, useful and engaging tool to support patients? Researchers will investigate the effects of using a chatbot to support follow-up care for patients in opioid use recovery. Participants will: * Receive access to a chatbot for 12 weeks that they can use to prepare for upcoming clinical appointments, find community resources, learn about urge-surfing and wellness techniques, and query for assistance with other recovery-related information and tasks * Complete surveys and provide user feedback Read Less

Lung cancer continues to be the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. There are several important disparities in lung cancer mortality: racial and ethnic minorities, those with serious mental illness and those with lower socioeconomic status experience higher lung cancer mortality compared to the general population. Lung cancer screening (LCS) with annual low dose chest CT can reduce lung cancer mortality by 20% for high-risk patients, but has been generally underutilized with uptake of 5-15% by eligible patients across the United States. Half of all patients eligible for LCS remain current smokers, and the additional benefits of tobacco cessation services can increase the benefits of LCS clinical encounters in these patients. Despite the proven benefit of LCS and tobacco cessation, it remains out of reach for many with barriers across the patient, provider, and health-care system levels with resultant disparities in uptake of LCS and effective tobacco cessation that may exaggerate disparities in clinical lung cancer early detection and mortality. The majority of LCS care occurs across several visits in an outpatient clinical setting, which may make it inaccessible to the most vulnerable patients. Our central objective is to extend the reach of lung cancer and tobacco screening through the implementation and evaluation of a program extending these services inpatient in a public hospital that serves a known high-risk and diverse population in East Harlem. Preliminary data obtained from a retrospective quality improvement project examined data from patients admitted over a 3 month period in early 2022. Of 1374 unique patients were admitted to our hospital, 112 patients met LCS eligibility criteria and over 80% had no evidence of having been screened. Forty-seven percent identified as Black and 33.9% as Hispanic, groups known to have worse lung cancer outcomes. While smoking data was incomplete on a majority of patients, 75% of all inpatient admissions were noted to be currently smoking. This, our preliminary data suggest that an inpatient program to provide smoking cessation and LCS in a safety-net hospital may be an effective tool to increase the reach of LCS in a known high-risk demographic and address disparities in LCS and tobacco cessation services. Millions of persons are affected by brain diseases. The CereBank will be used to support research studies aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases. Brain diseases can be inherited; developed due to diseases or aging; or can be due to trauma. The Central Florida does not have a brain biobank to meet the needs of research. Therefore, it is necessary for the University of Central Florida to establish a brain biobank. Read Less

This is an observational registry for patients at participating oncology centers. The data collection includes but is not limited to baseline variables, treatments given and outcome data. Patient surveys are also included. The aim of the study is to generate rich and standardized data for patients and to help enable more patients participate in clinical trials and contribute to research and development. Read Less

Volunteers for the study are asked to participate in two laboratory sessions. In the first laboratory session, volunteers are asked to provide a blood sample which will be used to measure factors related to health. Participants also complete questionnaires related to demographic and health-related information and undergo evaluations of their body composition. In the second laboratory visit, participants are asked to have cardiovascular, neuroendocrine, and inflammatory activity measured during a brief period of rest and during a short challenging psychological task. Participants will also complete questionnaires.
