This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the impact of a brief guided visualization exercise on anesthesia-related outcomes in oral and maxillofacial surgery in patients scheduled for ambulatory anesthesia in the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. Researchers will compare these patients, who will receive the guided visualization exercise in addition to standardized pre-operative instructions, to patients who will only receive the standardized pre-operative instructions. The following outcomes will be measured for both groups: * A seven-point Anesthesia Experience Survey * Face-Legs-Activity-Cry-Consolability (FLACC) scores at three points in time during the anesthetic - during local anesthesia, during surgery, and fifteen minutes after surgery has concluded * Amount of medications used during the sedation * Length of sedation Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if this ergonomic protocol can improve performance and reduce ergonomic risk in esports athletes. It will also learn about the insight of esports athletes and their experience in implementing this new protocol. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does this ergonomic protocol improve performance? Does this ergonomic protocol reduce ergonomic risk? Researchers will assign the protocol to esports athletes who meet inclusion criteria and express interest in participating in the study. A pre-post design will be conducted to note any differences. Participants will: * Participate in a 6-week study with 4 in-person visits * Volunteers will be requested to participate in a focus group during Week 6. * Implement the strengthening protocol 3x a week and a warm up/cool down protocol before and after each gaming session. * Attend one educational session about gaming ergonomics during Week 1 * Complete the Rapid Entire Body Assessment, Kovaaks Asessment, and a Questionnaire during Week Zero, Week 3, and Week 6. The primary goal of this clinical trial is to learn if PIPE-791 is safe and well-tolerated in adults with chronic osteoarthritis pain (COAP) or chronic low back pain (CLBP). The study will also explore whether PIPE-791 lowers pain in people with COAP or CLBP. Subjects will: * Complete a washout period to stop their current pain medications. * Take a daily dose of PIPE-791 or placebo for 4 weeks, then reverse treatment assignment for another 4 weeks. * Record pain levels and track dosing in a daily e-diary. * Visit the clinic for checkups and lab tests throughout the study. * Complete phone assessments during the treatment periods. This is a prospective pilot study to assess dynamic changes of plasma cell-free RNA (cfRNA) PD-L1 expression in patients with lung cancer undergoing immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) based therapy. The purpose is to test how osteopathic medicine (OMM) improves recovery after a hit to the head during Mixed Martials Arts (MMA). The small changes in the bone, joints, and fluids during head injuries may lead to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The OMM is adjusting the body with the doctors' hands. The goal is to restore alignment and release tension. The head is treated with the doctors' hands placed gently on the head or face. It was previously found to improve symptoms and recovery of memory after head injuries in college athletes. There haven't been clinical trials of this procedure in MMA fighters. Yet, they often get injuries to the part of the brain that releases hormones. Referrals for tests for the hormones are available. Individuals who participate in MMA fighting or sparring matches may join this study. Those who don't get hit in the head or a concussion will contribute to our understanding the osteopathic structural physical exam and fluid dynamics of the head in relation to brain function tests. Those who get hit in the head may be put in the treatment procedure or sham-placebo group. Participants will not be told which group they are in. We anticipate that 100 individuals of any gender will enroll in this study at NYIT Academic Health Care Center (AHCC). To be in this study, the participant must: Part 1 - Before the fight: 1. Plan to participate in an MMA fight or sparring match, 2. 18 to 50 years of age, 3. Be able to do online cognitive neuropsychology tests for memory, reaction time, and symptoms. Part-2-After the fight: (1) Have been hit in the head, or had a head injury, during a fight The participant cannot be in this study if they have: Part 1- Before the fight: 1. a current or previous spinal cord injury, 2. a traumatic brain injury within the past six months, 3. inability to tolerate the sports physical, 4. a diagnosis of brain degeneration, 5. low hormones levels from the brain, 6. Pregnancy Participants won't get referred for hormone testing if they don't have any clinical signs of this injury. They also won't get referred for it if they've had heart disease, disease of the blood vessels in their brain, or seizures. Participants cannot be in Part-2-After the fight if they: 1. cannot tolerate OMM (For example, you have a skull fracture, cervical spine fracture, bleeding or increased pressure in the head, tearing of tissues in the neck, space-occupying lesion, or stroke). 2. were knocked out for more than 2 minutes, had seizures, persistent vomiting, or paralysis when your head was hit. Participation involves 2 or 4 visits, which will take place over one week. * The first visit takes 30 mins. in-person and 70 mins. of online testing from home. * The second visit takes 30-60 mins. in-person and 70 mins. of online testing from home. * The third \& fourth visits will each be 30 mins. in-person and 70 mins. online testing from home. If participants agree to be in this study, they will be asked to do the following: Visit #1: Before the Fight * Get screened and review the consent form * Take the neuropsychology tests (ImPACT and Inquisit Web) online from home * Get a non-invasive sports physical exam of head, neck, back, arms, and legs. * Urine sample for the hormone from the brain called oxytocin (optional) * Have blood sugar checked by a lancet after pricking the finger (optional) Fight video: The study-doctors will record the participants' fights to make a computational model of the head. Visit 2: After the Fight * Get a sports physical of head, neck, back, arms, and legs. * IF the participant was hit in the head, the study-doctors or participants private doctor will examine them. * Take the ImPACT and Inquisit Web tests online from home * If the participant had an injury to their brain, they may get the OMM procedure or sham placebo-control (non-therapeutic light touch). * Urine sample for the hormone from the brain called oxytocin (optional) * Have your blood sugar checked by a lancet after pricking your finger (optional) * Referral to your doctor to test the levels of other brain hormone (optional) Visit 3 \& 4: * Sports physical of head, neck, back, arms, and legs * Take the ImPACT and Inquisit Web tests online from home * If you had an injury to your brain, you may get the OMM procedure or sham placebo-control (nontherapeutic light touch). You will not be told which one you are getting. * Urine sample for oxytocin (optional) * Have blood sugar checked by a lancet after pricking your finger (optional) * Referral to test the levels of other brain hormone (optional) Any significant new findings that develop during research that may relate to the participants health or willingness to continue will be provided to them by phone call. The purpose of this study is to determine if different video based coping strategies can help patients undergoing surgery for cancer can improve patients pain and distress after surgery for their cancer. The main questions this study aims to answer are: * Is it possible to use video-based coping strategies to help manage pain and distress after surgery? * Is one type of coping strategy better than another? Researchers will compare mindfulness-based coping strategies (e.g., guided meditation, expressive writing, etc.) with non-mindfulness coping strategies (e.g., support from social workers and the wellness center, health education, etc.) to understand how these can help in post-surgery recovery, pain management, and distress. Participants will: * Provide their full name, date of surgery, e-mail address, and phone number and agree to be contacted via email or text messaging. * Fill out some questionnaires before surgery, which should take 10-15 minutes. * Be assigned to one of three coping strategies. * Review a video (about 15-20 minutes long) or links to online resources before surgery and respond to questions about pain and distress before and after viewing these materials. * Review additional videos or links 2, 3, and 4 days after surgery and respond to questions about pain and distress before and after viewing these materials. * Complete additional questionnaires 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery. Pre-fALS is a prospective natural history and biomarker study of people not yet affected with ALS, but who are at genetic risk for developing ALS. The investigators aim to recruit unaffected (healthy) people from familial ALS (fALS) pedigrees in which a known genetic mutation associated with ALS has been identified; for this study, a fALS pedigree is one with two biologically related individuals who have or have had ALS and/or FTD. Individuals who may be at genetic risk for ALS and who belong to families with at least one affected family member who has tested positive for a known ALS genetic mutation may also be eligible to participate. Our goal is to study the pre-symptomatic phase, onset and progression of ALS and to learn more about genetic and environmental factors that put people at risk for developing ALS. Read Less

Purpose of the study: AIM 1: Prospectively collect pre-operative \[functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), magnetoencephalography (MEG)\] and intra-operative mapping data in patients with intra-axial brain tumors to assess how well each modality predicts the location of eloquent brain function. In addition, each modality will be compared with the other. AIM 2: Assess reorganization of eloquent brain function and plasticity in patients with intra-axial brain tumors.
