Post-Op Pain Control for Prophylactic Intramedullary Nailing.
Recruiting
Nationally, the opioid crisis has become a major epidemic with increasing mortality rates each year. Orthopedic surgeons routinely prescribe narcotics instead of NSAIDs for post-op pain control because of risk of delayed healing and nonunion due to NSAID use. Orthopedic oncology, however, has a unique subset of patients that undergo prophylactic placement of intramedullary femoral nails. Because no fracture is present, these patients do not rely on inflammatory healing factors, allowing for post... Read More

Lofexidine Combined With Buprenorphine for Reducing Symptoms of PTSD and OU Relapse in Veterans
Recruiting
The overall objective of the proposed study is to determine if lofexidine (LFX) as an adjunct to buprenorphine (BUP) treatment improves symptoms of both opioid use disorder (OUD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Other study objectives are to compare the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of BUP treatment alone, to BUP treatment with adjunct LFX, on measures of OUD and PTSD symptoms in Veterans with both prognosis .

Protocol for Genomically Profiling, Collecting, Archiving and Distributing Blood and Bone Marrow Specimens from Children and Young Adults with Hematologic Malignancy
Recruiting
This research study is a genomic profiling and repository study for children and young adults who have leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or myeloproliferative syndrome (MPS). Genes are the part of cells that contain the instructions which tell cells how to make the right proteins to grow and work. Genes are composed of DNA letters that spell out these instructions. Genomic profiling helps investigators understand why the disease develops and the instructions that led to its development. U... Read More

Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Biomarkers of Postoperative Delirium
Recruiting
The goal of this prospective cohort study is to assess potential differences in sleep biomarkers in older adult patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. To define sleep/circadian biomarkers of delirium (sleep duration, regularity, stability and timing of rhythm) in a prospective observational study. 2. To determine if plasma Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology/inflammatory burden interacts with or moderates the relationship between a sleep/circad... Read More

Safety, Tolerability, and Pharmacokinetics of DCR-PDL1 in Adults With Solid Tumors
Recruiting
The study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of intravenous DCR-PDL1 in adults with solid tumors. Participants will be enrolled in one of 4 ascending-dose cohorts. Each treatment cycle will consist of multiple intravenous (IV) doses. Dose escalation decisions will be based on data collected during the dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) period.

The CurePSP Genetics Program
Recruiting
This study is an observational, prospective genetic study. It aims to obtain DNA for research and testing from patients with PSP, CBS, MSA, and related neurological conditions and their families. Up to 1,000 adults who have been clinically diagnosed with PSP, CBS, MSA, or related neurological conditions will be enrolled. The study intervention involves sequencing of participant blood samples using non-CLIA-approved whole genome sequencing at the National Institutes of Health. Pathogenic variant... Read More

Angiotensin-(1-7) and Energy Expenditure in Human Obesity
Recruiting
The objective of this study is to better define the role of the hormone angiotensin-(1-7) in energy balance. We will test the overall hypothesis that angiotensin-(1-7) increases resting energy expenditure and promotes markers of heat production (thermogenesis) in white adipose tissue in human obesity.

fMRI in Postural Tachycardia Syndrome
Recruiting
Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is one of the most common forms of chronic orthostatic intolerance in the United States. This is a disabling disorder characterized by an excessive increase in heart rate upon standing that is accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue. One of the most under appreciated and bothersome symptoms of POTS is impaired cognition or "brain fog," which occurs to a level that interferes with daily activities such as work and education. Despite this high imp... Read More
