Based on preliminary work, whereby investigators examined pain management challenges and needs of caregivers of hospice patients with dementia, this team designed a cognitive behavioral intervention informed by the relational model of stress, entitled ENCODE (Empowering Caregivers of Patients with Dementia) to assist caregivers in effectively identifying and communicating their pain management challenges and needs. The investigators propose a 5-year randomized clinical trial in which caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) will be randomly assigned to a group receiving standard hospice care with the addition of "friendly video-calls" providing social support (attention control group) or a group receiving standard hospice care with the addition of the ENCODE intervention (intervention group). Caloric restriction may alter the response to chemotherapy induced stress response and enhance its antitumor effect. This study intends to use an intermitted caloric restriction protocol with alternate days before the chemotherapy administration to enhance the cytotoxic effect generated by standard treatment of cancer. A web-based registry will be created by the sponsor, VWD Connect Foundation (VCF), to collect data on patients with severe Von Willebrand Disease (sVWD). Data will be self-reported by patients and/or collected by registry personnel, as appropriate. The purpose of the sVWD Patient Registry is to create a database of well-characterized (with respect to demographics, medical history, symptoms, laboratory and genetic data, etc.) patients with sVWD for participation in retrospective and prospective research. The purpose of this randomized-controlled study is to compare outcomes of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair augmented with a Bioinductive Implant (study group) to standard arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (control group). The primary outcome of this study is rotator cuff repair integrity (absence of full- or partial-thickness defect) demonstrated on ultrasound at 1-year postoperatively. The overarching hypothesis is that CF carriers are at increased risk for developing most of the extrapulmonary conditions associated with CF compared to the general population. Specifically, it is hypothesized that this pilot data will detect subclinical evidence of pancreatic and kidney disorders among CF carriers. This will be determined by bringing CF carriers and controls to the CRU for one visit where they will answer survey questions and undergo laboratory testing. The investigators will investigate the device feasibility of human peripheral nerves and muscles recording and stimulation using percutaneous Utah Slanted Electrode Arrays (pUSEAs) implanted into residual peripheral arm nerves and EMG electrodes implanted in the residual muscles of patients with limb amputations in order to determine the ability of the HAPTIX (Hand Proprioception and Touch Interfaces) System to control an upper-extremity prosthesis, and to provide a sense of cutaneous touch and muscle proprioceptive feedback to the amputee. The primary objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the Negative Pressure Wound Therapy system with instillation therapy (NPWTi) on closure of chronic pressure sores. This intervention will be compared to wet-to-dry dressings, which is standard of care. In this post-market, on-label study, we hope to show that the NPWTi system more effectively closes pressure sores following debridement than traditional care. Read Less
