All Clinical Trials

The present study will be fully remote (virtual) and include observational design features (assessments) plus a clinical trial. All assessments will be completed using HIPAA-approved platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, MindLogger EMA platform). After screening via Qualtrics to determine eligibility (described below), participants will complete a cross-sectional survey via Qualtrics, followed by a baseline EMA period. During the baseline EMA period, participants will receive brief (3-5 minutes) surveys on their mobile devices 6 times per day for 7-days via the MindLogger app. During the baseline EMA period, participants will also be asked to wear non-invasive chest-worn Holter monitors (Polar H10 Holter monitors) that will capture their heartrate variability data. They will then complete the 4-week intervention (HRV bio or ED-JITAI treatment arms; see below), followed by a post-intervention 7-day EMA assessment period while they also wear the Holter monitors. Recruitment is expected to last for 1.5 years. In HRV-bio, participants will also complete a HRV biofeedback task via the Elite HRV app. In this intervention, participants will learn how to use their HRV data that they will see in real-time via the Elite HRV app to improve their HRV by engaging in an app-guided diaphragmatic breathing exercise. They will complete this exercise twice daily (morning, night). In ED-JITAI, participants will be prompted to complete focused, guided body scan tasks that will be sent to them via the MindLogger app. These guided tasks will be sent to them in the form of 1 of 3 brief (3-5 minute) videos via the MindLogger app. The body scans will be designed to promote participants' connection with, vs. distancing/distraction from, feared ED sensations (e.g., hunger, satiety, bloating). Participants will receive prompts to complete the body scans at times when they report via EMA that they are experiencing worse interoception than usual. "Worse interoception than usual" will be defined as participants' EMA-reported interoception scores during the intervention period that fall 1 SD or more above their baseline EMA-reported interoception levels. The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if polymer-induced liquid precursor (PILP) can be used safely to treat dentin caries (cavities) in adults. The main question it aims to answer is: Is PILP (conditioner or liner) safe in adult teeth with dental caries? Researchers will compare PILP to a placebo (a look-alike substance that contains no drug) to see if PILP safely treats cavities in teeth. Participants will: 1) Have PILP or placebo applied to their tooth prior to the placement of a filling in the tooth, 2) Complete two telephone calls within three months of filling placement and 3) Visit the clinic at three months and six months after the placement of the filling. The goal of this study is to obtain safety data, establish dose parameters, and effectiveness of treatment for the SpectraCure P18 System with IDOSE®, together with verteporfin for injection (VFI) as photosensitizer, for the treatment of primary localized prostate cancer. The study will be divided into two parts, with Phase I, dose-escalation, to study safety and establish an effective light dose, followed by Phase II, cohort expansion, to evaluate clinical efficacy and confirm safety/tolerability. The subjects will be followed for a period of 18 months to determine the primary outcome. The long-term follow-up is an additional 18 months, i.e. a total of 36 months. Interstitial Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) will be performed during general anesthesia. Optical fibers will be inserted into the prostate with a transperineal approach using transrectal ultrasound guidance. The intent is to deliver an adequate light dose throughout the prostate. The intent of this study is to evaluate actionable outputs from TRAQinform Theranostics in a prospective, multi-center, non-interventional clinical study. The primary objective is to investigate intent-to-change treatment decisions after the addition of TRAQinform Theranostics. The exploratory objective is to investigate if treatment efficacy and treatment-related toxicity could be detected by TRAQinform Theranostics following PSMA PET/CT at week 12. Read Less

Individuals with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) frequently report difficulties with attention and memory. The main question this study seeks to answer is: Do patients with ITP have evidence of cognitive impairment as detected by a cognitive function test battery? To address this issue, participants will take a cognitive function test and complete surveys on quality of life, fatigue, depression, and cognitive symptoms. The primary aim of the study is to evaluate for the presence and extent of cognitive impairment in patients with ITP. The study will also assess whether cognitive impairment in ITP is associated with patient-reported impacts on quality of life, fatigue, mood, and cognitive symptoms as well as clinical characteristics such as ITP disease and treatment history. The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the effect of communicative interaction on verbal communication in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and their caregivers. The question is, What are the effects of communicative interaction on verbal communication in people with ALS when they interact with their caregivers and does this change over time? Myotonic dystrophy (DM) and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) are inherited disorders characterized by progressive muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue. The purpose of this registry is to connect people with DM or FSHD with researchers studying these diseases. The registry will offer individuals with DM and FSHD an opportunity to participate in research that focuses of their diseases. The registry will also help scientists to accomplish research on DM and FSHD and to distribute their findings to patients and care providers. Read Less

Total joint replacements are some of the most successful medical devices developed over the last fifty years. They enable millions of people to remain ambulatory and pain free, with minimal risk. In 2002, over 200,000 total hip replacements, 350,000 total knee replacements, and 25,000 total or partial shoulder replacements were performed in the United States (HCUP data). Future use will likely be even higher: it is estimated that by the year 2020, the population 65 and over in developed countries will increase by 71%. Existing studies do not provide adequate prospective data to evaluate long-term outcomes. HSS is a world leader in total joint replacement including total shoulder arthroplasty. However, there is no systematic follow-up or evaluation of patients who have their shoulders replaced here. The purpose of this study is to establish a prospective cohort of HSS total shoulder arthroplasty to evaluate predictors of outcome, causes of failure and to allow ongoing evaluation of the results of our patients over time.
