This is a medical research study to test a medication in patients with a disease called Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex (PDC) Deficiency. The medication is triheptanoin, which is currently FDA approved for the treatment of Long-Chain Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorders. Previous research suggests that triheptanoin may also be effective in the treatment PDC Deficiency. Rapid onset Obesity, Hypoventilation, Hypothalamic dysfunction and Autonomic Dysregulation (ROHHAD) is a syndrome named in 2007. The hallmark of the syndrome is the rapid onset obesity and dysregulation of central ventilation. There is little information about the metabolic changes that lead to the rapid onset obesity in these children. This study is the first to systematically evaluate the efficacy of single and combined academic accommodation, behavioral treatment, and medication treatment in a large sample of children with ADHD. Using a scientifically rigorous, cross-over design the impact of these approaches on ecologically valid measures of outcome (on-task behavior, quiz scores, academic productivity) will be assessed to inform effective school intervention. Epinephrine is the principal physiologic defense against hypoglycemia in type 1 and longer duration type 2 DM. Despite this, it is unknown how epinephrine regulates in-vivo endothelial function and atherothrombotic balance in humans. The specific aim of our study will be to determine the dose response effects of the key ANS counterregulatory hormone epinephrine on endothelial function, fibrinolytic balance and pro-atherogenic inflammatory mechanisms in healthy humans. Depression is more common after a spinal cord injury (SCI) than in the general population. Unfortunately, it is unknown how depression is typically treated in individuals with SCI or if commonly used treatment methods are effective. This study will investigate the safety and impact of a novel method for treating depression called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). rTMS is a type of non-invasive brain stimulation. Fourteen individuals with a cervical or thoracic level SCI and depression will complete an approved treatment plan using rTMS. Participants will be treated using rTMS five days a week for four weeks. After four weeks of treatment, the study team will review the safety of rTMS and assess changes in depressive symptoms. If the results are positive, larger studies can be designed to develop better treatment options for individuals with SCI and depression. Read Less

This is study is comprised of three approaches. First, the investigators will conduct a retrospective cohort study to determine factors associated with COVID-19 severity and complications and understand COVID-19 outcomes, including all-cause mortality, post-discharge events, and impacts of rehabilitation services (third aim). The second aim is a mixed-method study and follows COVID-19 patients with repeated surveys to determine patient-reported functional outcomes, health recovery, and rehabilitation needs after COVID-19. The present study will evaluate the effects of both aging and nicotine on psychophysical tasks and electrophysiological measures. Nicotine will be administered to study participants in the form of gum that is available as an over-the-counter medication. The hypothesis is that nicotine will reverse the detrimental effects of aging on auditory processing. The proposed experiments will characterize the effects of nicotine and may eventually lead to improved treatments of hearing loss in a variety of patient populations and in healthy aging. Read Less

The goal of this clinical trial is to test if bexagliflozin lowers the sleep apnea severity in adults who are overweight or obese with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) compared with a placebo (look-alike substance that contains no active drug). The main question it aims to answer is: * If SGLT2i will reduce anatomic and physiologic traits, clinical measures of OSA and sleep deficiency in participants * If improvement in clinical measures are because of improvement in the anatomic and physiologic traits. Participants will be placed on either drug or placebo and get routine normal care for 6 months. At the start and end of the study, participants will undergo different clinical measurements to see if the drug makes the sleep apnea better. Read Less
