The ACCEL® Absorbable Hemostat Powder Clinical IDE Trial is designed as a prospective, multi-center, randomized, non-inferiority, controlled pivotal clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the ACCEL® Absorbable Hemostat Powder as compared to gelatin sponge, for achieving hemostasis in subjects undergoing cardiovascular, liver, or soft tissue surgery, when control of oozing to moderate bleeding by standard surgical techniques is ineffective and/or impractical. This K23 study is an effectiveness-implementation hybrid type I design to determine the effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing at Intake (MII), relative to intake-as-usual on client engagement and mechanisms of engagement among adults seeking outpatient addiction treatment. We also will obtain personnel feedback on the feasibility of implementing MII into standard practice by having personnel from the addiction treatment study sites complete implementation climate measures before Motivational Interviewing (MI) training and post-clinical trial, as well as an individual interview on implementation feasibility post-trial. A new algorithm derived from only patient age and components of the complete blood count and basic metabolic panel can identify patients discharged from the hospital who may benefit from a blood thinner (called rivaroxaban) to decrease their risk of blood clots, and for whom the risk of bleeding is minimal. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of a pop-up alert, which will be seen by clinicians when a discharging patient has been identified as being someone for whom the risk of blood clots is high, but for whom bleeding risk is estimated to be low. The pop-up alert will be enabled in a sequential fashion for each group of hospitals in 1 month blocks. We will look to see if the pop-up alert changes the number of patients who receive rivaroxaban. We will also measure the outcomes of blood clots and bleeding among all discharging patients. Read Less

Pediatric participants with exacerbation-prone asthma will receive an intramuscular injection of triamcinolone acetonide and will be followed for 48 weeks. The study visit 2 weeks after the injection will assess the response to the study medication, while the remaining study visits will examine the temporal stability of the symptom clusters. Read Less

To assess the feasibility of an expedited referral process for the obese endometrial cancer or EIN patient from her gynecologic oncologist to the Brigham Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (CMBS) in order to undergo concurrent weight loss surgery and hysterectomy within 8 weeks of first appointment with a gynecologic oncologist (or 12 weeks for EIN patients). The aim of this pilot study is to determine the effects of a 12-week indoor rock climbing training program on heart health, mental health, and behavioral health in generally healthy adults aged 18-35 years old who do not exercise. Participants will learn to rock climb using ropes on an indoor rock climbing wall and participate in the training program 2-3 days per week for 60 minutes each session over 12 weeks. Health outcomes will be measured at 4 time points over the course of the study (pre-intervention, 6-weeks/mid-intervention, 12-weeks/post-intervention, and 24-weeks post-intervention). Read Less
