Following the removal of a tooth, a bone graft is often placed in the socket to try to maintain the volume of bone that was there when the tooth was present so that the bone does not "shrink". The bone graft is kept in place with a small piece of material over the top of the tooth socket and with stitches. This procedure is called "Ridge Preservation". Many different materials are used for ridge preservation, including bone allografts (bone grafts derived from a human tissue donor). These bone allografts are dehydrated (dried) during processing. Before using the material in the socket, the material is re-hydrated (wetted). The most common hydrating (wetting) agent is normal saline (sterile salt water), but other hydrating agents such as blood can also be used. The purpose of this study is to refine and pilot an intervention using the Nicotine Metabolite Ratio (NMR) to inform the selection of pharmacologic treatment to increase smoking abstinence among Alaska Native and American Indian people. The goal of this longitudinal research is to learn why some children "grow out" of stuttering, while others persist. Children who do and do not stutter aged 3-6 years are eligible to participate in our study. During the study, children's speech and language abilities will be assessed with standardized assessments, and they complete several child-friendly experiments. During these experiments, brain activity will be recorded using specialized caps while children describe pictures, children will speak in two virtual-reality scenarios, and produce speech while keeping to a beat. The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if increasing adherence to a Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet pattern improves brain and heart health relative to a healthy control diet in middle-aged adults. Our research team will evaluate three different groups: the first group will be chosen using a predictive analytics model that predicts who will benefit most from the MIND diet, the second group will follow the MIND diet without being pre-selected, and the third group will eat a standard healthy diet to serve as a comparison. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the MIND diet improve cognitive performance and heart health relative to a control diet? How does the health impact of the MIND diet in participants pre-identified through predictive analytics compare to those without such pre-selection? Which of the three groups - predictive analytics selected MIND diet group, standard MIND diet group, or healthy control - demonstrate the most significant improvements in cognitive and cardiovascular health over the course of the trial? Participants will: Consume one meal that follows the MIND diet or a control meal every day for 3 months. Visit the lab before and after the 3 months of meals for tests. Many people living with cystic fibrosis (CF) experience pain. However, pain is sometimes unrecognized and under-managed in people with CF. Both medication and non-medication interventions can be used to treat pain and ideally, there is a multicomponent management approach. The goal of this study is to pilot a new 3-session non-medication mind-body pain management intervention specifically designed for adults with cystic fibrosis (CF). The intervention is titled Pain Acknowledgement Coping and Empowerment in CF (PACE CF). PACE CF will be administered by a member of the CF care team via telehealth visits to participants at home or during a hospitalization. The aim of the study is to evaluate the feasibility and patient acceptability of the intervention as well as preliminary evidence of the impact of the intervention on pain and its interference in daily life. The study will also examine outcomes such as perceived coping, quality of life, symptoms of depression or anxiety, and use of prescribed pain medication, in an exploratory manner. Read Less

This phase II trial investigates how well brentuximab vedotin and nivolumab work in treating patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma that has come back after initial treatment (relapsed) or has not responded to initial treatment (refractory). Brentuximab vedotin is a monoclonal antibody, brentuximab, linked to a toxic agent called vedotin. Brentuximab attaches to CD30 positive cancer cells in a targeted way and delivers vedotin to kill them. Nivolumab is an antibody that enhances the immune system to better fight Hodgkin lymphoma cells. Giving brentuximab vedotin and nivolumab may be able to defer stem cell transplant treatment and spare the considerable cost and toxicity on transplantation. Read Less

Primary brain cancer kills up to 10,000 Americans a year. These brain tumors are typically treated by surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, either individually or in combination. Present therapies are inadequate, as evidenced by the low 5-year survival rate for brain cancer patients, with median survival at approximately 12 months. Glioma is the most common form of primary brain cancer, afflicting approximately 7,000 patients in the United States each year. These highly malignant cancers remain a significant unmet clinical need in oncology. The investigators have completed a Phase I clinical trial that has shown that Superselective Intraarterial Cerebral Infusion (SIACI) of Bevacizumab (BV) is safe up to a dose of 15mg/kg in patients with recurrent malignant glioma. Additionally, the investigators have shown in a recently completed Phase I/II clinical trial, that SIACI BV improves the median progression free survival (PFS) from 4-6 months to 11.5 months and overall survival (OS) from 12-15 months to 23 months in patients with newly diagnosed GBM. Therefore, this two-arm, randomized trial (2:1) is a follow up study to these trials and will ask simple questions: Will this repeated SIACI treatment regimen increase progression free survival (PFS-primary endpoint) and overall survival (OS-secondary endpoint) when compared with standard of care in patients with newly diagnosed GBM? Exploratory endpoints will include adverse events and safety analysis as well as quality of life (QOL) assessments. The investigators expect that this project will provide important information regarding the utility of repeated SIACI BV therapy for newly diagnosed GBM and may alter the way these drugs are delivered to our patients in the near future.
