The purpose of this study is to create a registry (collect data and keep it in a research database) to learn more about two methods of taking small tissue samples from your esophagus (the esophagus is the tube that carries food and liquid from your mouth to your stomach). The two methods of sampling are: 1) Using forceps that take biopsies (small tissue samples) from your esophagus, and 2) Using a brush that also takes biopsies from your esophagus. Read Less

We will conduct a randomized trial to compare differences in sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment adherence between patients receiving text messages versus those receiving usual care (e.g. no text messages). We hypothesize that STI treatment adherence will be 20% higher among patients randomized to receipt of two-way text messaging services. Read Less

This study is being done to determine if traces of tumor can be found in the blood before, during, and after patients stop treatment. We will analyze the tumor material to see if it is similar to tumor tissue and if the tumor material in blood is helpful in monitoring the disease. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to collect clinical data, biological specimens (e.g., blood, tumor, cerebrospinal fluid, urine sample, etc.), and digital health data from patients with tumors, cancer and/or neurological disorders in order to perform research studies that could advance patient care. By collecting these specimens, the investigators plan to create and maintain a biorepository to make data and specimens available to collaborating investigators performing research to discover predictive biomarkers, patterns of care, and personalized treatments that could directly improve the care of our patients through focused proof-of-concept clinical trials. Objective: Preliminary studies show that low intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU), a new type of non invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), may be able to reach deep structures of the brain involved with depression and anxiety, that remain inaccessible using current forms of NIBS with precision. In this study, the investigators will test if this technique can be used to change brain activity in areas that are connected to depression and anxiety symptoms. The primary objectives of this study are to test the safety and tolerability of LIFU, evaluate the feasibility of using LIFU to reduce brain activity, and evaluate the feasibility of simultaneous fMRI-LIFU. If the results of this study are positive, what the investigators learn will serve as a strong foundation for the future development of innovative treatments for a variety of psychiatric disorders. Research Procedures: 25 veterans will be recruited. Visits will take place at the VA Providence Healthcare System. During some visits, healthy and patient participants may undergo clinical and research neuroimaging, neuropsychological testing, complete questionnaires, and participate in clinical/neurological assessments. Healthy veterans will not receive LIFU and will only attend 2 study visits. Patients are expected to attend up to 8 visits over 6 weeks. However, some may require up to 6 extended follow-ups after visits 5 or 8, in which case they would attend a total of 11 or 14 visits over 6 months. Two patient visits will include the LIFU application, following FDA safety guidelines. Patients will be assigned either to an experiment in which LIFU stimulation will be delivered immediately prior to a task or to an experiment in which stimulation will be delivered during the task. Within each experiment, patients will be assigned to first receive either LIFU stimulation to the study target or anatomical control. Study staff, but not participants will know which location is being targeted in case safety concerns arise. Safety assessments will be conducted at follow-up visits. A clinician will be available during LIFU administration /follow-up visits. Assuming no injury or other concerns are present, patients will then repeat this process again, receiving stimulation targeting other brain area not previously selected. Read Less

The overall objective of this proposed research is the derivation of a biomarker-enhanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based pediatric sepsis screening tool (PSCT) (software) that can be used in combination with the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system to monitor and assess real-time emergency department (ED) electronic health record (EHR) data towards the enhancement of early pediatric sepsis recognition and the initiation of timely, aggressive personalized sepsis therapy known to improve patient outcomes. It is hypothesized that the screening performance (e.g., positive predictive value) of the envisioned screening tool will be significantly enhanced by the inclusion of a biomarker panel test results (PERSEVERE) that have been shown to be effective in prediction of clinical deterioration in non-critically ill immunocompromised pediatric patients evaluated for infection. It is also hypothesized that enhanced phenotypes can be derived by clustering PERSEVERE biomarkers combined with routinely collected EHR data towards improved personalized medicine. Read Less

Treatment of intra-bony defects is challenging and requires extensive knowledge of the etiology, anatomy, occlusion, and available biomaterials that can be used to treat this kind of defects. Patients who received scaling and root planing at the college of dental medicine due to periodontal disease, will be screened for inclusion. Only subjects who showed persistent deep probing depth associated with an intrabony defect will be included and will be randomly allocated to one of two treatment groups. One group will be treated using recombinant human platelet derived growth factor (GEM-21) (test) added to allogenic bone graft, second group will be treated using enamel matrix derivatives (EMD) (control) with allograft. Both groups will be treated using the same surgical protocol. Patients will be followed up for a period of 6 months, before getting re-evaluated for assessing the effectiveness of the applied therapies. Read Less

This is a single site pilot trial to study the feasibility of Fetoscopic Endoluminal Tracheal Occlusion (FETO) therapy in the most severe group of fetuses with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) at Ann \& Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children's). This procedure aims to increase fetal lung volume before birth and improve survival after birth.
