Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that commonly persists into adulthood and is associated with significant life impairments. The current study evaluates the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a group-based mindfulness intervention for first-year college students with ADHD. If found to be feasible, acceptable, and efficacious, subsequent research will examine its impact on a larger scale to have a broader public health impact for college students with ADHD. Read Less

Tumor hypoxia is one of the physiological factors for treatment resistance and likely contributes to poor overall survival among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC). Identifying hypoxic features of HNC may allow the personalizing treatment plan. The investigators propose multiparametric Hypoxia MR (HMR) imaging using diffusion, perfusion, and oxygenation as non-invasive, in-vivo imaging components of a hypoxia phenotype. Assessing the hypoxia phenotypes' expression will be critically important for characterizing and predicting CRT response among patients with advanced HNC. A prospective cohort study will be conducted used multiparametric MR (MPMR) imaging correlated with treatment response assessed by 3 months fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET). The image analysis approach will be developed to incorporate FDG-PET and quantitative MRI characteristics of tumor (ADC, oxygen-enhanced T1 and T2\* maps, and volume transfer constant (Ktrans) to facilitate 3D visualization of multiparametric information. This proposed study's overarching goal is to develop and validate multiparametric HMR imaging using 18F - (fluoromisonidazole) FMISO-PET and immunohistochemistry (IHC) as the standard of references. The goal of this project is to refine and test a culturally-tailored smoking cessation intervention for American Indian women who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV). The primary aims of this study are to: (a) use a community-based participatory approach to refine intervention materials and finalize pilot intervention methodology for a culturally tailored, trauma-informed smoking cessation intervention for AI women who have experienced IPV; (b) examine feasibility, acceptability, satisfaction, and preliminary efficacy of the intervention; and (c) explore changes in alcohol and drug use over the course of the intervention. Participants will be asked to participate in the 8-week Healing Within: Smoking Cessation Intervention for American Indian Women Experiencing Intimate Partner Violence, and complete interviews at baseline, end-of-treatment, and three months from the end of treatment. The goal of this randomized control trial is to learn if box fans and filters can reduce asthma symptoms and improve indoor air quality in children ages 6 - 17 years old with asthma living in the Duwamish Valley, Seattle, Washington. The main question it aims to answer are: * Do box fans with filters improve asthma symptoms? * Do box fans with filters improve an objective measure used to monitor lung function known as forced expiratory volume during the first second (FEV1)? Researchers will compare children living in households with high quality filters to those in households with sham filters to see if air quality and asthma symptoms improve. Current disease-modifying therapies for multiple sclerosis (MS) aim to prevent the development of new lesions; unfortunately, no current FDA-approved therapies promote central nervous system (CNS) repair mechanisms. Thus, strategies to promote functional recovery from lesion-related deficits in adults with MS remain an unmet need. This is a pilot study designed to test the feasibility, safety and preliminary efficacy of non-invasive (transcutaneous, applied by surface electrodes over the skin) electrical spinal cord stimulation combined with occupational therapy for restoring upper extremity sensorimotor function in adults with multiple sclerosis. Participants with multiple sclerosis and impaired upper extremity function will complete two separate 6-week intervention sessions: 6 weeks of occupational therapy combined with transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation and 6 weeks of occupational therapy alone. The order of these interventions will be randomized, and each intervention will be separated by a 6-week washout period. The investigators hypothesize that: 1. transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation combined with therapy will be feasible and acceptable by participants 2. transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation combined with therapy will lead to improvements in upper extremity function compared to occupational therapy alone 3. transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation combined with therapy will lead to improvements in symptoms related to quality of life (pain, spasticity, and bladder symptoms) compared to occupational therapy alone Read Less

The Sinai Vein Stent Registry aims to establish and maintain a registry of patients who have undergone a vein stent placement procedure at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. The purpose of this study is to monitor and evaluate the long-term outcomes of venous stents placed to treat venous outflow obstruction. Outcome variables that will be assessed are: patency rate, reintervention rate, occurrence of any complications, clinical improvement, and quality of life. Venous outflow obstruction is defined as a stenosis and/or occlusion seen primarily in the ilio-femoral vein and inferior vena cava, and infrequently in the subclavian vein, brachiocephalic vein, or superior vena cava. While vein stent placement procedures are currently being performed in the United States, using stents which are commercially available and FDA-approved for use in arterial interventions, at this time there are no stents that are FDA-approved for use in veins. The placement of stents in veins holds tremendous promise as a treatment for venous outflow obstruction, but review of current literature has showed a paucity of published data on the long-term outcomes of this treatment. The study is composed of two arms, a retrospective arm and a prospective arm. Any patient over the age of 18 who has undergone or is scheduled to undergo a vein stent placement procedure is eligible for this study. A HIPAA waiver and waiver of informed consent are being requested for the retrospective arm for patients who have undergone a vein stent placement procedure from January 1st 2012 to date of study onset, as it is not possible to contact all patients in the retrospective arm (i.e., lost to follow-up, no longer follows-up with a study physician). This study is only interested in the collection and analysis of data; the clinical care and outcomes of research subjects will not be affected by their participation in this study. An IDE application has been submitted to the FDA for use of the Wallstent™ (manufactured by Boston Scientific, Inc.) in veins as treatment for venous outflow obstruction. The primary stents being used as treatment for venous outflow obstruction at Mount Sinai is the Wallstent™, mainly due to the fact that only Wallstents™ are available in the appropriate sizes to be used in veins. In rare occasions or exceptional circumstances, a smaller self-expanding nitinol stent may be used. Due to the extremely rare frequency of stents other than Wallstents™ being used and the impracticality (if not impossibility) of obtaining IDEs for all other stents, the investigators believe it is appropriate to exclude usage of these stents from the study data. To confirm, the purpose of this study is to monitor and evaluate long-term outcomes of the venous stents/the vein stent placement procedure, not specifically the Wallstent™ itself. Read Less

This study is designed to examine SV2A density in MDD and PTSD as a correlate of synaptic density, and to determine whether ketamine administration will reverse the synaptic loss in vivo in human subjects. To our knowledge, this is the first human study to examine SV2A in vivo in MDD and PTSD and to use the first known drug (ketamine) that rapidly reverses synaptic loss to determine whether ketamine administration could restore some of the structural changes associated with depression and PTSD. After a screening process to determine eligibility, all subjects will participate in an MRI, and 2-3 PET scans with the administration of ketamine for one of the scans. Patients with severe hematochezia (bright red blood per rectum) may have a bleeding source proximal to the colon. Visualization of the entire gastrointestinal tract using a second-generation colon capsule endoscopy system could improve diagnostic yields and form the basis for a new approach to early diagnosis that could change guidelines and practice management in these patients. The hypothesis of this study is that urgent colon capsule endoscopy will have higher rates of lesion localization and diagnosis and reduced time to diagnosis than the standard tagged red blood cell scanning and/or angiography. In this study, the eligible patients with severe hematochezia are enrolled to undergo an evaluation with the capsule endoscopy in addition to the standard tests including a tagged RBC scan and/or an angiogram. The outcomes in terms of diagnostic yields of the capsule endoscopy will be compared to the standard tests. Read Less
