To determine the feasibility and engagement of participants in the SUSTAIN intervention compared to enhanced usual care over 24 weeks through mixed-methods measurement of participant enrollment, adherence, retention, and engagement (counseling, screenings, referrals, and uptake). Methods: Leveraging rigorous quantitative and qualitative evaluation, the study team will identify mechanisms driving intervention feasibility and engagement. This study is evaluating a new therapeutic use of electrical stimulation to promote nerve healing and improve functional recovery following surgical intervention for peripheral nerve injury in arm. Participants will be randomized into one of two groups, treatment or control, with all participants receiving standard of care treatment for the nerve injury. The treatment group will also receive a single dose of the therapeutic stimulation during the surgical intervention for their nerve injury. Read Less

Parent-focused Redesign for Encounters, Newborns to Toddlers (PARENT) is a team-based approach to care that utilizes a community health worker in a health educator role ("Parent's Coach") to provide many of the Well-Child Care (WCC) services that children and families should receive, addresses specific needs faced by families in low-income communities, and decreases reliance on the clinician as the primary provider of WCC services. The model was developed in partnership with clinics and parents in low-income communities and previously tested among largely Latino, Medicaid-insured populations. The aims of this study are to (1) Adapt the PARENT intervention to meet the needs of a diverse, largely Black population of underserved families, (2) Determine the effect of adapted PARENT on receipt of nationally recommended preventive care services, emergency department utilization, and parent experiences of care, (3) Determine whether the effectiveness of adapted PARENT differs by family-level factors, (4) Explore parents' experiences in receiving adapted PARENT, (5) Examine the economic impact of adapted PARENT from the parent stakeholder perspective, (6) Examine the economic impact of adapted PARENT from the pediatric provider and clinic stakeholder perspective, and (7) Examine the economic impact of adapted PARENT on healthcare utilization, from the perspectives of parents and families. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the adapted PARENT model as compared to traditional guideline-based WCC and assess the patient-centered economic outcomes of the adapted PARENT model. The effects of exercise on prevention and improved control of chronic diseases, reduced mortality, and improved quality of life are well established. Exercise has been shown to prevent heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and certain types of cancers. In addition to prevention, physical activity is included in the standard or care for many chronic diseases and used in treatment. For example, the American Diabetes Association has identified positive health behaviors like physical activity as foundational in the treatment and management of disease and improving overall quality of life. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Exercise is Medicine Program (EIM) is a physician referral program that aims to increase physical activity to prevent and reduce complications from chronic disease. The integration of technology among a 65+ population of EIM participants provides a novel approach to improving individual's health. This phase II trial tests the impact of canakinumab on biologic samples (buccal, nasal, and blood) from former smokers with increased risk of cancer. Canakinumab blocks the activity of a protein called interleukin-1 beta (IL-1b), an agent of the inflammatory system and is used for the treatment of different non-cancer diseases (like auto-inflammatory diseases). The overall objective of this study is to determine the effect of posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) on children with constipation due to pelvic floor dyssynergia. Our main hypothesis is that PTNS effectively treats children with constipation secondary to pelvic floor dyssynergia through modulation of anorectal function. We will perform a single-center, randomized controlled pilot study comparing PTNS to sham stimulation in children with constipation secondary to pelvic floor dyssynergia. Read Less

This is a randomized prospective study assessing the impact of psychosocial factors on pain and physical performance among adolescents with leg pain. A set of psychosocial surveys assessing activity-related fear, stress, anxiety and depression will be completed by the participants. Participants will then complete self-report questionnaires assessing pain, quality of life and functional ability followed by an assessment of physical activity levels assessed with a wearable activity monitor;. Participants will then be randomized into one of two intervention groups (psychologically-informed video education group and a control group). After participants receive their assigned educational intervention, the self-report questionnaires will be re-administered. Participants with leg pain pain will then complete follow-up assessment of their psychological beliefs, pain, quality of life, physical activity levels, and self-reported functional ability through REDcap at 1 week, 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. The long-term goal of this study is to reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors among treatment-seeking individuals who also have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Prolonged exposure (PE) and crisis response plan (CRP) have demonstrated empirical support for reducing suicide attempts as compared to treatment as usual. However, no studies to date have assessed their effectiveness when used in combination. In light of this knowledge gap, the primary objective of this study will be to test the effectiveness of PE augmented with CRP as compared to PE with care as usual (self-guided treatment plan), an active comparator, for the reduction of suicide ideations and attempts for individuals with comorbid PTSD. The goal of this study is to examine the impact of a caregiver-implemented shared reading program, Sit Together and Read (STAR), on children ages 4 to 5 with developmental language disorder. The main questions it aims to answer are: * how much STAR impacts children's literacy skills in the short-term and long-term--up to two-years after completing STAR. * how do caregiver supports in the form of small monetary rewards or encouraging texts help caregivers to implement STAR at its intended frequency of sessions per week. Caregiver participants will be assigned to either a control group or one of three STAR groups. Children's skills related to literacy and learning will be assessed before the intervention starts, at the end of the intervention, and every six months post-intervention for two years. Researchers will determine the short term and long term impacts of STAR compared to the control group. Researchers will compare the three STAR conditions to see if the rewards or encouragement helped parents to follow through with completing more STAR sessions. Read Less

This is a prospective study to determine ketogenic diet effect on htTKV, GFR, microalbuminuria. This is a single-center study of 20 patients with ADPKD and deemed high risk for progression to ESRD. This determined by combination of features of ADPKD and htTKV as assessed by prior computed tomography (CT) or MRI. Patients will be recruited from the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Clinic at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Enrolled patients will have MRI for htTKV, urinary studies, blood tests at baseline, 6 months, and 52 weeks. Blood for GFR will be assessed three times over the course of the study including baseline, 6 months, and 1 year. Participants will follow ketogenic diet for 52 weeks.
