Video-based Collaborative Learning to Improve Ventral Hernia Repair
Recruiting
Recent studies demonstrate the critical role of individual surgeon performance, including both the approach they take to an operation as well as their technical skill, in determining patient outcomes. Utilizing the rich data collected by the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative (ACHQC), formerly Americas Hernia Society Quality Collaborative (AHSQC), for its 200 members performing ventral hernia repair in the United States, the investigators will examine the effectiveness of video-based co... The EndRAD Trial: Eliminating Total Body Irradiation (TBI) for NGS-MRD Negative Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With B-ALL
Recruiting
This study will evaluate the use of non- TBI (total body irradiation) conditioning for B-ALL patients with low risk of relapse as defined by absence of NGS-MRD (next generation sequencing minimal residual disease) before receiving a hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT). Patients diagnosed with B-ALL who are candidates for HCT will be screened by NGS-MRD on a test of bone marrow done before the HCT. Subjects who are pre-HCT NGS-MRD negative will be eligible to receive a non-TBI conditioning regime... Read More

Effects of Aromatherapy on Patient Satisfaction With Surgical Abortion at Less Than 10 Weeks Gestation
Recruiting
The investigators propose a single-site, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial of lavender aromatherapy versus placebo for patient satisfaction in adult women having a surgical abortion before 10 weeks and 0 days gestation. The investigators will evaluate whether lavender aromatherapy is an effective adjunct therapy for patient satisfaction during first trimester surgical abortion. The investigators will measure satisfaction using the Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale (ISAS). T... Read More

Early Rehabilitation Using Functional Electrical Stimulation Assisted Supine Cycling in the Intensive Care Unit
Recruiting
Critically ill patients in the intensive care unit are known to lose muscle mass and function at a rapid rate. Currently, there is a global recognition and shift in the ICU culture to reduce sedation and encourage exercise and mobilization early during the ICU stay. Functional stimulation assisted supine cycling can be applied to patients in the bed and does not require patient participation. This study seeks to evaluate the effect of conventional exercise and early mobilization in combination w... Read More

tDCS to Reduce Craving in Cocaine Addiction- Phase 2 Study
Recruiting
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a form of non-invasive brain stimulation in which low level electrical currents are applied to the scalp in order to alter brain function. In a prior Phase-I study, the research team demonstrated feasibility of self-administration of a home-tDCS prototype in 14 patients that applied 15 sessions for each patient at an outpatient center.

Are Superficial Parasternal Intercostal Plane (SPIP) Blocks With Bupivacaine and With or Without Adjuvants Helpful for Post-operative Pain After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting?
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of the superficial parasternal intercostal plane (SPIP) block alone (30cc of 0.25% bupivacaine) or plus Magnesium (200mg of magnesium sulfate) or plus Magnesium + Buprenorphine (300mcg) as adjuvants can improve post-operative pain in patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, specifically, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)

Glanatec(R) for Descemet Stripping in Fuch's Endothelial Dystrophy
Recruiting
In brief, the objective of this study is to investigate whether the drug Glanatec ® which is approved in Japan for glaucoma and ocular hypertension, can be used in patients with Fuchs endothelial dystrophy who have had a descemet stripping procedure without endothelial keratoplasty. While some limited data exists as a proof of concept in in vitro or animal studies, and Glanatec® has been successfully used in a recently published case series for this indication, there is insufficient data to show... Histology Study of Biostimulatory Activity of Injectable Poly-L-Lactic Acid (Sculptra Aesthetic)
Recruiting
The study device, Sculptra, is an injectable implant formulation of poly-L-lactic acid microbeads, approved by the FDA for treatment of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy of HIV disease). It is being used off-label by dermatologists to treat dermal defects, as a biologically active filler. Anecdotal evidence suggests that subjects' skin quality may improve as a result of poly-L-lactic acid injection. While this is not the primary goal of such treatments it is often seen and described as so called "Scu... Read More
